Authors: Ochiai Y, Tsunogae M, Ueda M Abstract A 59-year-old woman with small-cell lung carcinoma achieved tumor disappearance after cisplatin-based chemotherapy (CBC) and radiation treatment but subsequently experienced right hemiparesis and aphasia. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a left middle cerebral artery territory acute infarction and left internal carotid artery occlusion. Ultrasonography revealed a mobile thrombus in the left common and internal carotid arteries, and contrast computed tomography revealed a mural thrombus in the ascending aorta. CXCR4 Antagonist AMD3100 Protects Blood-Brain Barrier Integrity and Reduces Inflammatory Response After Focal Ischemia in Mice Original Contributions
Conclusions— CXCR4 antagonist AMD3100 significantly suppressed inflammatory response and reduced blood–brain barrier disruption after MCAO. AMD3100 attenuated ischemia-induced acute inflammation by suppressing leukocyte migration and infiltration, in addition to reducing proinflammatory cytokine expression in the ischemic region.

18F-Choline Uptake in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Abstract: A 75-year-old man with a history of prostate cancer was referred to our department to perform 18F-choline (FCH) PET/CT. FCH PET/CT showed a markedly increased uptake in the right temporoparietal junction brain. Three weeks earlier, acute ischemic stroke was diagnosed in the right temporoparietal junction brain on diffusion-weighted sequence and thrombosis in a distal branch of the right middle cerebral artery on MR angiography. Choline precursors promote repair and growth of cell membranes in neurologic diseases, so FCH PET/CT uptake could be explained by repair processes during early outcome of acute ischemic stroke.

Aortic Valvular Papillary Fibroelastoma Leading to Acute Ischemic Stroke in a Pediatric Patient (P1.286)
Conclusions:Previously published cases of children with IS and PF have identified the mitral valve as the site of the PF. Our case demonstrates that aortic valvular PF can be associated with IS in pediatric patients. Diindolylmethane Ameliorates Ischemic Stroke-Induced Brain Injury by Peripheral and Central Mechanisms
CONCLUSION: This inhibition of platelet aggregation, platelet mediated oxidative stress, and inflammation, improved blood flow, and reduced neurological deficits, brain infarction, BBB leakage, brain water content, and histopathological abnormalities indicate the preservation of brain structural integrity. Therefore, these findings conclude that DIM exhibits neuroprotection by inhibiting platelet aggregation.
