Reirradiation with advanced brachytherapy techniques in recurrent GYN cancers
CONCLUSION: The use of advanced BT approach in reirradiation setting is a feasible and safe option in treatment of post-treatment recurrent cervical, endometrial, and vaginal cancers.PMID:37716821 | DOI:10.1016/j.brachy.2023.07.004

Preclinical activity of selinexor in combination with eribulin in uterine leiomyosarcoma
In this study, we evaluated the effects of selinexor in combination with doxorubicin and eribulin in the LMS tumor model in vitro and in vivo. Treatment of selinexor combined with eribulin showed synergistic effects on tumor growth inhibition in SK-UT1 LMS-derived xenografts. Immunohistochemical assessment of the tumor tissues showed a significantly reduced expression of proliferation (Ki67) and XPO1 markers following combination therapy compared to the control group. Global transcriptome analyses on tumor tissue revealed that the combination therapy regulates genes from several key cancer-related pathways that are differe...

Clinical significance of MATN1-AS1 as ceRNA of Mir-200b in tissues and serum of patients with cervical cancer
Sci Rep. 2023 Sep 15;13(1):15336. doi: 10.1038/s41598-023-42023-2.ABSTRACTTo analyze the clinical significance of MATN1-AS1 as ceRNA of Mir-200b in the tissues and serum of cervical cancer patients. A total of 50 patients with cervical cancer admitted to our hospital from March 2018 to March 2019 were selected as the research objects. All patients underwent surgical resection of cancer tissues in our hospital, and cervical cancer tissues and adjacent tissues more than 2 cm away from the edge of cancer tissues were retained. Patients with cervical cancer were selected as the research group, and 50 patients with benign uteri...

Low-grade uterine Leiomyosarcoma is highly sensitive to hormonal treatment
CONCLUSIONS: We observed a response or long-term stability rate on hormonal therapy in the 90% range; in all cases the time to relapse was significantly longer than in ULMS and in most cases the relapse was abdominal. Based on these findings, we conclude that a proportion of patients with uterine smooth muscle neoplasms actually present with a "low-grade ULMS".PMID:37699075 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-0692

Bioinformatics, RNA sequencing, and targeted bisulfite sequencing analyses identify the role of PROM2 as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker
CONCLUSION: Via this study, we effectively revealed PROM2 overexpression as a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker of survival in BRCA, LUAD, and UCEC.PMID:37692961 | PMC:PMC10492044

Trends in Uterine Cancer Mortality in the United States: A 50-Year Population-Based Analysis
CONCLUSION: Since 2001, the uterine cancer mortality rate has increased across all four racial and ethnic groups examined, with the highest increase seen among non-Hispanic Black women. The largest increase in mortality was observed among younger non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic women.PMID:37678887 | DOI:10.1097/AOG.0000000000005321

Gynecological carcinosarcomas: Overview and future perspectives
Bull Cancer. 2023 Sep 5:S0007-4551(23)00341-7. doi: 10.1016/j.bulcan.2023.07.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGynecologic carcinosarcoma (CS) are rare and aggressive tumors composed of high-grade carcinoma and sarcoma. Carcinosarcoma account for less than 5% of uterine and ovarian carcinoma and patients have poor outcome with a 5-year overall survival of less than 30%. In early-stage setting, the treatment mainstay is surgery and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy or adjuvant chemotherapy in uterine (UCS) and ovarian CS (OCS), respectively. In metastatic or advanced stage disease, chemotherapy is the rule with a lower response r...

Comprehensive analysis of P2Y family genes expression, immune characteristics, and prognosis in pan-cancer
CONCLUSION: P2Ys may be used as potential pan-cancer biomarkers in prognosis and immunology. They may also be new targets for tumor immunotherapy, which has wide clinical implications.PMID:37672858 | DOI:10.1016/j.tranon.2023.101776
