Case Report: Utility of Ketamine, Lidocaine, and Mexiletine as Nonopioid Adjuvants in Complex Cancer-Associated Pain.
Authors: Hakim RC, Edmonds KP, Atayee RS Abstract Ketamine, lidocaine, and mexiletine are potential nonopioid adjuvant medications for the use of refractory cancer-related pain, particularly when opioids are demonstrating limited objective benefit. This is a case report of a single patient admitted to a large academic medical center in the United States. The patient is a 43-year-old woman with a history of Crohn's disease complicated by rectal squamous cell carcinoma and complex, progressive, and intractable pelvic and rectal pain. Over the course of hospitalization, her pain demonstrated limited opioid responsiven...

Local Recurrence and Epithelial Dysplasia at the Resection Margin of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Objectives:  At the annual meeting of the American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM) in 2014, we reported on local recurrence resulting from dysplastic epithelia remaining at the resection margin in 15 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). In the present study, the relationship between p53 status i n dysplasia at the resection margin and recurrence was investigated with the same series of 15 OSCCs.

Eppikajutsuto (a Japanese herbal medicine) regulates mTOR and induces apoptosis in oral cancer cells
ConclusionsThe results suggested that eppikajutsuto might exhibit antitumor effect against OSC ‐19in vitro by suppressing mTOR activation. However, additional studiesin vitro andin vivo are required to confirm the antitumor effect of eppikajutsuto.

Reactor produced 64 CuCuCl 2 as a PET radiopharmaceutical for cancer imaging: from radiochemistry laboratory to nuclear medicine clinic
ConclusionsTo the best of our knowledge, this is the first study on use of reactor produced [64Cu]CuCl2 for PET imaging of cancer in human patients. It is envisaged that this route of production of64Cu would aid towards affordable availability of this radioisotope for widespread clinical use in countries with limited cyclotron facilities.

miRNAs in lung cancer. A systematic review identifies predictive and prognostic miRNA candidates for precision medicine in lung cancer.
In conclusion, we report diagnostic miRNA biomarkers for in-depth clinical evaluation. Furthermore, in an effort to avoid unnecessary toxicity we propose predictive biomarkers. The biomarker candidates support personalized treatment decisions of lung cancer patients and await their confirmation in randomized clinical trials. Comparison of spectral computed tomography imaging parameters between squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma at the gastroesophageal junction.
CONCLUSIONS: Spectral CT could be useful in the differential diagnosis of SCC and AC at the GEJ. Therefore, a routine spectral CT scan is recommended for patients with carcinoma of the GEJ. PMID: 33285653 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging in Nodal Staging and Surveillance of Ocular Melanoma: Cases Report and Review of Literature
J Nucl Med Technol. 2021 Apr 5:jnmt.120.260539. doi: 10.2967/jnmt.120.260539. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOcular melanoma (OM) is a rare noncutaneous malignancy and consists of 2 different subtypes based on anatomic location in the eye: uveal melanoma (UM) and conjunctival melanoma (CM). As in cutaneous melanoma, nuclear medicine and molecular imaging play valuable roles in the nodal staging and clinical management of OM. Through the illustration of 2 distinctive cases, we aim to demonstrate the complementary roles of standard lymphoscintigraphy, advanced single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography, 18...
