Allergic disease, corticosteroid use and risk of Hodgkin ’s lymphoma: A UK Nationwide case-control study
Our data support that prior allergic disease, especially eczema, and corticosteroid treatment increase the risk of developing incident Hodgkin ’s lymphoma before the age of 50. Immune system malfunction is central to Hodgkin’s lymphoma development.

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as treatment for patients with DOCK8 deficiency
ConclusionHSCT is curative in most DOCK8 deficient patients, confirming this approach as the treatment of choice. HSCT using a reduced toxicity regimen may offer the best chance for survival.

Histomorphology and Immunophenotype of Eczematous Skin Lesions Revisited—Skin Biopsies Are Not Reliable in Differentiating Allergic Contact Dermatitis, Irritant Contact Dermatitis, and Atopic Dermatitis
Abstract: Lesions of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), irritant contact dermatitis (ICD), and atopic dermatitis (AD) share similar clinical features and thus, their diagnosis can be challenging. The aim of this study was to reassess histopathology and immunophenotyping properties to distinguish between ACD, ICD, and AD. Charts of patients with eczema, who had undergone complete routine diagnostic workup (skin biopsies, patch tests, skin prick tests, and respectively or serum IgE levels), were reviewed. Thirty-five skin biopsy specimens of 28 patients (mean age 64 ± 15 years; ♀ = 13 ♂ = 15) with clear diagnosis of A...

B-cell reconstitution after lentiviral vector–mediated gene therapy in patients with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome
Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) is a severe X-linked immunodeficiency characterized by microthrombocytopenia, eczema, recurrent infections, and susceptibility to autoimmunity and lymphomas. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the treatment of choice; however, administration of WAS gene–corrected autologous hematopoietic stem cells has been demonstrated as a feasible alternative therapeutic approach.

Medical History, Lifestyle, Family History, and Occupational Risk Factors for Follicular Lymphoma: The InterLymph Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Subtypes Project
Conclusions The few relationships observed provide clues suggesting a multifactorial etiology of FL but are limited in the extent to which they explain FL occurrence.

Etiologic Heterogeneity Among Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Subtypes: The InterLymph Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Subtypes Project
Conclusions Using a novel approach to investigate etiologic heterogeneity among NHL subtypes, we identified risk factors that were common among subtypes as well as risk factors that appeared to be distinct among individual or a few subtypes, suggesting both subtype-specific and shared underlying mechanisms. Further research is needed to test putative mechanisms, investigate other risk factors (eg, other infections, environmental exposures, and diet), and evaluate potential joint effects with genetic susceptibility.

Beneficial IFN-α treatment of tumorous herpes simplex blepharoconjunctivitis in dedicator of cytokinesis 8 deficiency
Autosomal-recessive hyper-IgE syndrome (AR-HIES) is a rare primary immunodeficiency caused by loss-of-function mutations in the gene DOCK8 (dedicator of cytokinesis 8). HIES follows an autosomal-dominant or -recessive trait and is characterized by high serum IgE levels, eczema, recurrent respiratory and skin infections, and fungal infections. Allergic disease manifestations, viral infections, and an elevated risk of squamous cell carcinoma and lymphoma are characteristics of DOCK8 deficiency. Lymphopenia, insufficient T- and B-cell memory compartment, impaired lymphocyte proliferation to mitogens, and natural killer (NK) c...

Combined DOCK8 and CLEC7A mutations causing immunodeficiency in 3 brothers with diarrhea, eczema, and infections
We report 4 brothers from a consanguineous Italian family with an immunodeficiency syndrome characterized by severe eczema, milk and egg allergies, recurrent infections, intractable diarrhea, failure to thrive, and, in 2 of the 3 surviving brothers, lymphoma. One of the brothers (patient II-2) died at age 12 months of cardiovascular failure caused by intractable diarrhea, and the other 3 were evaluated as part of this study ( and , A). The proband (patient II-1) presented shortly after birth with severe eczema and intractable diarrhea without gastrointestinal infection. In the first year of life, he had multiple allergies ...
