Basket Trials for Intractable Cancer
This study has made a significant impact on clinical practice in cancer patients harboring the TRK translocation, and also illustrates the potential for future advancements in drug development and clinical trials of cancers harboring rare genomic alterations (50). Second, a basket trial may allow screening for potential efficacy across multiple tumor types in order to guide more traditional, disease-specific, follow-up studies. The goal of some basket trials is to obtain an overall assessment of the drug with pooled histologies; in such trials, subsequent analyses are straightforward, and are comparable to those in standa...

Identifying barriers and finding solutions to implement best practices for cancer surgery at Maputo Central Hospital, Mozambique.
Conclusions: The findings of this study contributed to the development of an educational program in surgical oncology, considered essential to the training of surgeons at MCH. The cancer educational programs and the mobilisation of adequate resources will ensure the provision of adequate surgical oncology treatments for MCH. The training requirements should be tailored to suit the local needs based on the most prevalent malignancies diagnosed in the region. In our view, this methodology may apply to other countries with similar realities in the formation of surgical oncologists. PMID: 30483358 [PubMed]

J Health Care Poor Underserved. 2021;32(3):1531-1553. doi: 10.1353/hpu.2021.0148.ABSTRACTDietary patterns associated with risk for colorectal cancer (CRC) may contribute to continuing health disparities in Latinx populations. Latinx from low-income communities, aged 25-65, were randomized to a 12-week storytelling-based intervention (ST) (n = 300) or didactic learning (DL)(n = 285) classes on cancer screening and dietary changes related to CRC risk facilitated by Latinx lay health workers (promotora/es de salud). Dietary intake was assessed pre-and post-intervention (24-hour dietary recall) with no significant differences ...
