Changing pattern of cancer distribution: experience from a tertiary health institution in Nigeria and review of literature
CONCLUSION: There is a changing trend in cancer cases with some cancer cases now predominating compared to previous years. This may be because of increased awareness and/or better medical screening and diagnostic techniques.PMID:37635573 | DOI:10.4103/njcp.njcp_520_22

Psychological Aspects of Breast Cancer
Psychiatr Clin North Am. 2023 Sep;46(3):551-570. doi: 10.1016/j.psc.2023.04.010. Epub 2023 May 22.ABSTRACTBreast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Building a Digital Immune System
Credit: Courtesy of Dr. Tomas Helikar. The power of computer code has been a longtime fascination for Tomas Helikar, Ph.D., a professor of biochemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). In college, when he learned he could use that power to help researchers better understand biology and improve human health, Dr. Helikar knew he’d found his ideal career. Since then, he’s built a successful team of scientists studying the ways we can use mathematical models in biomedical research, such as creating a digital replica of the immune system that could predict how a patient will react to infectious microorganisms ...

Subspecialty Breast Imaging Education in Tanzania; Clinical, Infrastructure, and Logistical Paradigms for Best Practices in the Low- and Middle-Income Settings
We present subspecialty radiologist training for breast imaging at an Academic center in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The training incorporates remote, in-person, asynchronous and synchronous teaching methods and multidisciplinary conferences. We use a team of US academic faculty under the auspices of the Radiological Society of North America Global Learning centers paradigm. Trainees are Tanzanian radiologists who are pursuing an additional specialization degree in Women's imaging, utilizing an approved 2-year curriculum. Improving access to breast cancer screening and treatment in Nigeria: The triple mobile assessment and patient navigation model (NCT05321823): A study protocol
PLoS One. 2023 Jun 13;18(6):e0284341. doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0284341. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: In Nigeria, breast cancer incidence is rising, late presentation is common, and outcomes are poor. Patient-related factors such as lack of awareness and misperceptions in addition to health system deficiencies such as lack of a clearly defined framework for breast cancer screening and referral are some of the major drivers of this poor outlook. Guidelines for breast cancer screening in high-income countries have limited applicability in low-middle-income countries, hence the need for innovative, resource-compatible...
