Durable complete response to early immunotherapy discontinuation in a kidney transplant recipient with advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma: A case report and review of literature
CONCLUSION: Organ transplant recipients with complete response to immunotherapy for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma may continue to respond despite early treatment cessation. This may reduce the risks of late immune-related adverse events and acute graft rejection.PMID:37734447 | DOI:10.1016/j.trim.2023.101932

Intratumoral Bacteria as Mediators of Cancer Immunotherapy Response
Cancer Res. 2023 Sep 15;83(18):2985-2986. doi: 10.1158/0008-5472.CAN-23-1857.ABSTRACTMultiple lines of evidence spanning from animal models to human clinical trials indicate that the microbiome influences cancer immunotherapy response. Whereas initial studies focused exclusively on the gastrointestinal (gut) microbiota-tumor axis, more recent studies have examined the possibility that bacteria located within tumor cells or within the tumor microenvironment mediate cancer treatment response. Strikingly, this phenomenon has been demonstrated in cancers that arise in anatomic locations that are traditionally thought to be dev...

Exploring Cardiac Impact of Oral Nicotine Exposure in a Transplantable Neoplasm Mice Model: Insights from Biochemical Analysis, Morphometry, and Molecular Docking: Chlorella vulgaris Green Algae Support
This study was designed to investigate the impact of nicotine and Chlorella vulgaris (Ch. V) on cardiac glutathione homeostasis, inflammatory response, cardiac damage markers, apoptotic proteins and histopathological findings in an experimentally transplantable neoplasm mouse model (Ehrlich ascites carcinoma; EAC). In the in-vivo experiment, the female Swiss mice were divided into four groups: control, Ch.V (100mg/kg), Nicotine (100µg/ml/kg), and a combination group ( Nocotine+ Ch.V) for 40 days. Furthermore, the effects of C. vulgaris components on caspase-3, TNF-α, and IL-1β activity were explored using Molecular Oper...

Comparative Analysis of Donor Liver Allograft Outcomes in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Who Underwent Liver Transplant
CONCLUSIONS: Similar outcomes can be achieved for hepatocellular carcinoma patients who undergo liver transplant with donations after brain death, donations after cardiac death, or donations after brain and cardiac death allografts, especially when strict donor selection criteria are applied.PMID:37698401 | DOI:10.6002/ect.2023.0119

Liver Transplantation for Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Patients with Inherited Metabolic Liver Diseases: A Single-Center Analysis
CONCLUSION: Liver transplant for these categories of patients is associated with good disease-free and overall survival, even in the presence of some seemingly poor prognostic features.PMID:37681267 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2023.22679
