A common 18F-FDG PET radiomic signature to predict survival in patients with HPV-induced cancers
Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging. 2023 Aug 26. doi: 10.1007/s00259-023-06320-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLocally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) and anal and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC and OPSCC) are mostly caused by oncogenic human papillomaviruses (HPV). In this paper, we developed machine learning (ML) models based on clinical, biological, and radiomic features extracted from pre-treatment fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ([18F]-FDG PET) images to predict the survival of patients with HPV-induced cancers. For this purpose, cohorts from five institutions were used: two cohorts o...

Carcinoma vulva: Ten years experience in a teaching institution of North India
CONCLUSION: Tumour stage, nodal positivity and nodal ECS were poor prognostic factors. Radical surgery-extensive groin node dissection causes significant morbidity; hence, studies evaluating the role of neoadjuvant treatment are needed so as to modify current treatment practices. HPV vaccination as a preventive measure and a thorough and extensive evaluation of patients with suspicious signs in vulvar disease is needed.PMID:37312782 | PMC:PMC10259558 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_1731_22

What affects women's decision-making on breast reconstruction after mastectomy for breast cancer?
CONCLUSION: Patients have personal motives to opt for or reject breast reconstruction. It seemed that patients differ in their rating of values that affect their decision since the same arguments were used to opt for or reject reconstruction. Notably, patients were well-informed in their decision making.PMID:37303033 | DOI:10.1007/s12282-023-01471-4

Prediction Models for Mediastinal Metastasis and its Detection by Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration in Potentially Operable Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer - A Prospective Study
Chest. 2023 Apr 3:S0012-3692(23)00469-5. doi: 10.1016/j.chest.2023.03.041. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Prediction models for mediastinal metastasis and its detection by endobronchial ultrasound guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) have not been developed using a prospective cohort of potentially operable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.RESEARCH QUESTION: Can mediastinal metastasis and its detection by EBUS-TBNA be predicted with prediction models in NSCLC?STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: For the prospective development cohort, 589 potentially operable NSCLC patients were evaluated (July 20...

Histopathology spectrum of skin lesions in teaching institution
CONCLUSION: Leprosy and Basal cell carcinoma were most commonly observed infective and neoplastic skin lesion in our study respectively. Therefore, community should be educated to prevent airborne droplet transmission and repeated unprotected ultraviolet light sun exposure to reduce the prevalence of both these diseases. We suggest such type of study in different geographical area to plan preventive strategy to reduce morbidity due to various skin lesion.PMID:36353033 | PMC:PMC9638679 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_2016_21
