Non-retroareolar male mucinous breast cancer without gynecomastia development in an elderly man: A case report
CONCLUSION: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of MMBC in the non-retroareolar region of the nipple without gynecomastia development. Mucinous tumors are easily missed during diagnosis, and the incidence of axillary lymph node metastases of chest mucinous tumors has increased.PMID:37727495 | PMC:PMC10506025 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i25.5954

Ataxia Telangiectasia in a Patient with Breast Cancer: A Case Report
We report the case of a woman who had AT in childhood and developed breast cancer in her 20s; the disease was successfully managed by the decision-making of multidisciplinary physicians professionals with ethics support. She was immunocompromised, ataxic, and mentally impaired. The patient's mother noticed a tumor in her right breast and subsequently brought her to our department. Although preoperative testing and surgical procedures were limited as AT is extremely radiosensitive, the patient was diagnosed with cT2N0M0 breast cancer and underwent right mastectomy and axillary lymph node sampling. The final diagnosis was pT...

Comparative anticancer effects of Annona muricata Linn (Annonaceae) leaves and fruits on DMBA-induced breast cancer in female rats
CONCLUSION: These results confirm the anti-breast cancer effect of A. muricata, however, the aqueous fruit extract was more potent than the ethanolic leaves extract.PMID:37454062 | DOI:10.1186/s12906-023-04073-x

Carcinogenic roles of MAFG-AS1 in human cancers
This study systematically presents the functions of MAFG-AS1 in various cancers, as well as the findings of bioinformatics analyses of the MAFG-AS1, which should give clear advice for future research.PMID:37351806 | DOI:10.1007/s12094-023-03246-x

Effects of 7-ketocholesterol on tamoxifen efficacy in breast carcinoma cell line models in vitro
This study shows that 7-KC can modulate tamoxifen efficacy as well as cellular migration and invasion, making 7-KC a promising candidate for future studies.PMID:37343688 | DOI:10.1016/j.jsbmb.2023.106354

Casein kinase 1 controls the shuttling of epidermal growth factor receptor and estrogen receptor in endometrial carcinoma induced by breast cancer hormonal therapy: Relevance of GPER1/Src
This study was performed to elucidate whether specific inhibition of casein kinase 1 (CK1) controls 4-OHT-mediated Ishikawa cell carcinogenesis. 4-OHT significantly stimulated the activity of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and nuclear translocation and expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) from the plasma membrane to perinuclear or nuclear regions, as well as the activities of G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER1) and Src in Ishikawa cells. However, inhibition of EGFR by Gefitinib blocked all these events, and inhibition of GPER1 or Src produced a partial block. GPER1 and Src controlled Ishikawa cel...

Endocrine Therapy for Primary and Secondary Prevention After Diagnosis of High-Risk Breast Lesions or Preinvasive Breast Cancer
J Clin Oncol. 2023 May 1:JCO2300455. doi: 10.1200/JCO.23.00455. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe Oncology Grand Rounds series is designed to place original reports published in the Journal into clinical context. A case presentation is followed by a description of diagnostic and management challenges, a review of the relevant literature, and a summary of the authors' suggested management approaches. The goal of this series is to help readers better understand how to apply the results of key studies, including those published in Journal of Clinical Oncology, to patients seen in their own clinical practice.Patients with high...
