Presentation of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor, Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma, and Gastric Adenocarcinoma in a Woman With No Identifiable Genetic Abnormalities
This report details the first known case of co-occurrence of gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and gastric adenocarcinoma in an individual with no identifiable genetic abnormalities. The patient is a 57-year-old female who presented with abdominal pain. CT scan demonstrated a pancreatic mass, and endoscopic ultrasound demonstrated an additional gastric mass. Biopsy of both masses demonstrated adenocarcinoma; however, the masses were found to have different origins. The patient underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy with excellent response. She then underwent surgical intervention, which demonstr...

Dose comparison of robustly optimized intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) vs IMRT and VMAT photon plans for testicular seminoma
CONCLUSION: Proton therapy reduced radiation dose to OAR compared to both IMRT and VMAT plans, and potentially reduce the risk of secondary cancer both overall and for most OAR.PMID:37683054 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2254925

Preclinical evaluation of a dual-receptor targeted tracer < sup > 68 < /sup > GaGa-HX01 in 10 different subcutaneous and orthotopic tumor models
CONCLUSIONS: [68Ga]Ga-HX01, as a dual target imaging agent, exhibited superior in vivo performance in different subcutaneous and orthotopic mice models of human tumors over [18F]FDG and its respectively mono-receptor targeted agents, which warrants the future clinical translation for tumor imaging.PMID:37642706 | DOI:10.1007/s00259-023-06412-z

Real-time 4D MRI using MR signature matching (MRSIGMA) on a 1.5T MR-Linac system
Phys Med Biol. 2023 Aug 24. doi: 10.1088/1361-6560/acf3cc. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTObjective:To develop real-time 4D MRI using MR signature matching (MRSIGMA) for volumetric motion imaging in patients with pancreatic cancer on a 1.5T MR-Linac system.Approach:Two consecutive MRI scans with 3D golden-angle radial stack-of-stars acquisitions were performed on ten patients with inoperable pancreatic cancer. The complete first scan (905 angles) was used to compute a 4D motion dictionary including ten pairs of 3D motion images and signatures. The second scan was used for real-time imaging, where each angl...

A Case of Locally Advanced, Unresectable Pancreatic Cancer with Superior Mesenteric Artery Invasion Treated with FOLFIRINOX plus Radiation Therapy, followed by Conversion Surgery
We report a case of a woman in her 70s who underwent conversion surgery after FOLFIRINOX, followed by radiation therapy for initially locally advanced unresectable pancreatic cancer. She visited her local doctor with a chief complaint of upper abdominal pain. Contrast-enhanced CT scan of the abdomen revealed an irregular mass invading the superior mesenteric artery, and the first and second jejunal arteries(>180°)in the pancreatic uncinate region. Based on imaging, she was diagnosed as UR-LA(sm), cT4N0M0, cStage Ⅲ pancreatic cancer, and underwent 5 courses of modified FOLFIRINOX. Radiation therapy of 50.4 Gy was adde...

Synthesis of Au-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles using Korean red ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) root extract for chemo-photothermal anticancer therapy
Arch Pharm Res. 2023 Aug 17. doi: 10.1007/s12272-023-01457-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGreen synthesis strategies have been widely applied for the preparation of versatile nanomaterials. Gold nanospheres with an average size of 6.95 ± 2.25 nm were green synthesized by using a 70% ethanol extract of Korean red ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) root as a reducing agent. A seed-mediated synthesis was conducted to prepare Au-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles using gold nanospheres as seeds. Remarkably, Au-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles with an average size of 80.4 ± 11.9 nm were synthesized. Scanning transmission electron microscopy...
