Impact of conflict and pandemic on women's health in Latin America: implementation to improve equity in the provision and access to safe obstetric anesthesia
With a population of more than 650 million, 1 Latin America (LA) is classified as the region with the greatest inequity in the world despite its enormous wealth of natural and human resources. Among other factors, social disparity, inequality, lack of opportunities at work, unemployment, violence, and corruption contribute to the persistence of extreme inequalities. In 2018, the region had a higher rate of poor women compared with men. This entire scenario became even gloomier during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with its devastating impact on society, the economy, education, and healthcare.
