So, how did you know you were meant for Medicine?
I like Doctor, and all of things they do - combining science into curing diseases and malignancies, being the forefront of medical research, etc. However, I hope I don't sound lazy saying this, but the 13+ years it takes to get there seems nerve wrecking and a little discouraging. I found getting all A's in college courses let alone were stressful, maybe it's because I'm trying to get in? But the amount of time it takes just make my dream a far-fetch goal, and I wonder if it'll be worth it... So, how did you know you were meant for Medicine? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non Medical Research Paper- Religious Studies
Hey Everyone, I'm a a pre-med whose a Religious studies major. I had to write a thesis paper for my degree and wanted to know if there was a way to highlight this in my application or maybe even apply it as research experience. My professor called it "one of the best I have received during my 20 years of teaching". I kind of would hate to let it go to waste. Would this count as research experience? Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cheap device or app for medical research
Hello! For my medical practice, I am seeking for cheap device (no money right now ) so I could gather health data. I've already heard about this health device. They claim that everyone is able to use those data (ECG, respiration, temperature) easily in your research so it sounds OK for me. Any suggestions? What devices are you using right now? What is my best option?
I am a post-bacc UPENN student looking for a little advice. I just finished taking four courses here and got a 3.5 GPA. I will be taking three or four classes next semester at UPENN as well where I hope to do better ending with, hopefully, around a ~3.7 GPA. Some quick background: sGPA/cGPA(undergrad at GWU as BME): 3.31; Old MCAT: 30; PA resident (22 white male), 300 hours of EMT, 500 hours gwu medical research, 200 hours shadowing, I applied to 6 medical schools last year and didn't even... Thoughts on my app
I started off this journey thinking that I was going to apply to medical school. But, after three years of working in the emergency department - running research - I've changed my path to dentistry. A bunch of thought has gone into this decision, but I still feel unsure. So I have a few questions and was curious if I could grab some feedback about my overall chances as a candidate. Would 28 be too old to matriculate into dental school? Would medical research be frowned upon? What about... Thoughts on my app (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Most valuable skills to secure high quality clinical research during medical school?
Hi all, I'm currently in the process of applying to medical school as well as a summer medical research program that I hope to participate in next summer before starting school (assuming I'm accepted this cycle [LizzyM score of 77]). There are a variety of different groups I could work in, and I'm supposed to rank them in order of interest. I plan on speaking to the project mentors of the groups I am most interested in before finalizing my application. Anyway, I did a few years of basic... Undecided about Career Path - Med Business?
Hello all: I am going to be a rising Freshman in college this fall and am having trouble deciding the proper major to follow through on. Option 1: Major in Public Health - Concentrate in clinical science. Obtain an MD. I however am known to hate biology as a subject, and find the memorization throughout med school terrifying. There's a part of my that loves medical research and biotech but on the other hand, I can't picture myself treating patients and enduring an additional 7-8 years... Do I still need an SMP?
When I came here six years ago asking what to do about my 2.7 ugrad GPA (degree in molecular biology), I received the great advice that I should find something else to do with my life. So that's what I did. I gave up the idea of being a doctor and did medical research for a couple years before going back to ugrad for Comp. Sci. I took a year's worth of CS courses but then became more interested in Physics and ended up doing an accelerated Physics curriculum before going to Physics grad... Do I still need an SMP?
