Panic attack due to nitrous oxide?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I recently had a somewhat terrifying wisdom tooth extraction while being put under nitrous oxide. I read beforehand that nitrous oxide is supposed to relax you or even give you a euphoric high, so I went in feeling very calm. After the initial administration (while they were giving me local), I started feeling tingles and kind of glazing over (the noises around me sort of played on repeat in my head which I found really scary). I think I... Panic attack due to nitrous oxide? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contract non-renewal :{
Hi, I had been matched in my program in June 2015. On day 1 I had a panic attack and went to ED. I put my effort got back but I wasn't diagnosed yet. I worked in ED for a month. Tried my best but couldn't pass it. I started IM but couldn't make it far and had to take LOA. Again started yet had to take another LOA as I was still sick and the only psychiatrist I had wasn't convinced I have a problem and termed it adjustment disorder. I restarted again in Sep but on the first day I couldn't... Contract non-renewal :{ (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Considering leaving medicine, please help?
Hi Everyone, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I hope you can give me some advice. During my 3rd year of medical school, I realized that clinical medicine/mortality/morbidity caused me to develop incredible anxiety, panic disorder, and an arrhythmia 2/2 to the anxiety. Being on wards makes me hyperventilate and brings on this feeling of impending doom. I have worked incredibly hard (board scores in the 250s) and it is heartbreaking that I cannot seem to cope with medicine. I have rotated in and... Considering leaving medicine, please help? Do I have a chance in Texas?
I have one semester left at The University of Texas at Austin (Biology major) until I apply to med schools in TX. I am a first generation college student from a low-income family who lives in south TX. I started off my first semester not even knowing basic chemistry due to my high school's lack of decent teachers... I've struggled a lot to adapt to college not only academically, but mentally. Ive also struggled with panic-attack disorder for years which has caused me trips to the ER and... Do I have a chance in Texas? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Failing an EMT course
I performed well in the written portion of my EMS class and had panic attack during the practical/exceeded the limit for completing practical stations. Passing the practicals is pre-requisite for passing this course, so I earned a fail on a pass/fail grading scale. I'm committed to working on managing the anxiety. For context, I've taken no natural science courses, and my background's nearly exclusively in the humanities and social sciences. How significantly might this compromise my... Epilepsy & Panic Attacks in Medical school ?
A few weeks ago one of our classmates confessed that she has regular panic attacks since we started Medical school. When another classmate heard this, she told us that she knows another person who developed Epilepsy since Med school started. We asked her whether she was sure about that and she told us that the doctor arrived to the conclusion that the constant stress + lack of sleep ( especially ) can induce an Epilepsy even in healthy individuals. Do you know other similar stories... Epilepsy & Panic Attacks in Medical school ? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
