Talking about anxiety/panic disorder when applying
Hi there! My brother is a doctor and told me to not share my story about how I conquered social anxiety/panic disorder as ADCOMs would view this as potential risk for the future. I truly took the hard road and faced my panic disorder head on and dealing with this hardship is one of my greatest achievements as it is extremely difficult and proves my tenacity, but I don't even want to mention it if it is going to come off badly. I'm currently writing my personal statement for cycle #2 and... Talking about anxiety/panic disorder when applying (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Idk what I ’m doing
Hi everyone, I haven’t been on here in a while and even when I was I didn’t post much so I apologize if I’m doing this all wrong. For the last 4 years my dream future was set on becoming a doctor. This past semester of sophomore year really shook me up. I’m realizing exactly how much has to go into it and I’m not going to lie and say it’s definitely given me a few panic attacks. I changed my mind and decided I’d have to find something else because I don’t have the personality to fight my... Idk what I’m doing (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dismissed from Dental School - future career options? Please help!
I was a D2 student at a dental school on the east coast but was dismissed due to poor academic performance, due to a few medical issues I was facing (severe anxiety and panic attacks, a pre-existing metabolic disorder, and resurfacing of rape trauma due to a sexual assault case in my apartment building). I've worked hard on my medical issues and I'm doing much better now thanks to therapy and other measures I needed to take to heal. However, the damage it has done to my career is still... What was your biggest undergraduate hurdle? How did you overcome it?
Something I’ve seen a lot of on SDN (myself included) is pre-meds having full out panic attacks over some daunting personal/academic hurdles followed by threads full of usually solid advice, but rarely do I see how those individuals overcame their challenges in the end. The point of this thread is to share your past hurdles (or any current ones you’re currently overcoming) and how you overcame them so that other pre-meds in similar positions can lose the tunnel vision and realize how... finishing up post-doc and having a mini panic attack about law and ethics exam
So long story short everything has been falling into place. It's my last week of post-doc, EPPP is passed, and I submitted my hours to the CA board of psychology....just waiting on confirmation to take the Law and Ethics Exam (CPLEE). For some reason I JUST realized that if I fail I have to wait 3 F**ING months to re-take it....which would be incredibly bad. I would have to post-pone job applications and probably do the whole psych assistant thing. I wasn't too worried before ( I hear CPLEE... finishing up post-doc and having a mini panic attack about law and ethics exam (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Stay in Podiatry or become a PA (Pathologist Assistant)?
I’ll start off by saying I got into podiatry school with a fairly high UG gpa and average MCAT last year with a scholarship for half tuition. I started off doing decently well and then as courses began to get harder, I began to lose stamina. My health began to deteriorate, as well as my mental health. I felt at this point, I would fail out as the exams never stopped although my ability to regain information began to waver. On came the nights of endless vomiting, panic attacks, and thoughts... I give up on Medical School.
Today, I finally admitted something incredibly difficult to myself: Medical School is not for me. I am currently a first year Pre-Med Biology student. I volunteer in a Children's Hospital because I planned to become a Pediatrician. I applied to be a Medical Scribe to get further clinical experience. I've started looking for research opportunities. This is what I've always wanted to do. However, I found myself having constant panic attacks and being prescribed antidepressants. I am... I give up on Medical School. As needed medication for Panic Attacks, besides Benzo's and Vistaril?
Hi, I have a patient who is only interested in a Benzo, however, due to his extensive history of substance use, I am trying to avoid anything addicting. He's already on an SSRI but I want something that will be helpful for when he is having the panic attacks. Vistaril was of no benefit in him. I mentioned taking Buspar regularly but he does not want to take anything on a regular basis. I even talked about low dose Propanolol (has asthma). I was wondering if there is anything else you guys... As needed medication for Panic Attacks, besides Benzo's and Vistaril? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Wrong patient's information on prescription
OMG. This just did not just happened. I am using this new system and I need to print prescriptions electronically. I clicked on the wrong patient's profile and wrote a prescription under th I gave it to the patient I intended to give it to. That evening, I got a call from him saying that I printed out the wrong name and address on prescription. He returned the prescription to me and I wrote him a new one with the correct identifiers. Personal Statement and Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Hello, I'm in the middle of writing my personal statement for next cycle. I was wondering if I should mention my 11 year struggle with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I think it's an integral part of my journey and one that shows just how far I've come as a non trad. It does tie into the "why medicine?" question as the physician who diagnosed me is also the same physician I shadowed. I don't take medication for it. I have a prescription for Xanax for my occasional panic attacks but I keep my... Personal Statement and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (Source: Student Doctor Network)

December 1st anxiety
So december 1st is not close seeing as this is just the beginning of october, but these past couple of weeks I've been having so much anxiety and panic attacks because of it. Having had a couple of interviews by now, it's killing me not knowing whether I'll be accepted to my top choices or where I'm going to end up living for the next four years. For those that have already gone through this (and those going through it with me right now), how did you handle the stress and uncertainty? I... December 1st anxiety (Source: Student Doctor Network)
