Molecular strategy for the direct detection and identification of the most common fungal community in cerumen specimens by multiplex PCR
Conclusion. In our study, multiplex PCR assays enabled simultaneous detection of two common genera of the causative agent of otomycosis in a cerumen specimen. Regarding the high sensitivity of the first step of the multiplex PCR assay, this assay may be used for the direct detection of Candida and Aspergillus genera in other clinical specimens.PMID:37624031 | DOI:10.1099/jmm.0.001746 (Source: Journal of Medical Microbiology)

Comparison between clinical evaluations and laboratory findings and the impact of biofilm on antimicrobial susceptibility in vitro in canine otitis externa
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Biofilm presence in OE was often underdiagnosed. Even if there is no specific clinical or cytological pattern related to biofilm, its presence should always be suspected.PMID:37580811 | DOI:10.1111/vde.13197 (Source: Veterinary Dermatology)
