Celebrex Is No Riskier For Heart Than Other Arthritis Drugs, Study Finds
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A new study gives some reassurance to arthritis sufferers who want pain relief but are worried about side effects. It finds that Celebrex, a drug similar to ones withdrawn 12 years ago for safety reasons, is no riskier for the heart than some other prescription pain pills that are much tougher on the stomach. “We do not want patients to suffer with pain and we need to know what is safe to give them,” said Dr. Steven Nissen, the Cleveland Clinic’s heart chief, who led the study. Fear that Celebrex would be worse than alternatives proved unfounded, and “on almost every endpoint it...

Counterfeit Pills Containing Fentanyl Found At Prince's Estate
Counterfeit pills containing the synthetic opioid fentanyl were found at Prince’s estate in Minneapolis, the Associated Press reported Sunday.  A source associated with the investigation told the AP that inspectors found pills in an Aleve bottle that were falsely labeled as “Watson 385,” a common marking for pills that contain acetaminophen and hydrocodone. However, the AP reports that at least one of the pills tested positive for fentanyl, which is thought to be about 100 times stronger than morphine.  The 57-year-old artist died in April from what medical examiners determined wa...

Link Between Heart Attacks And Osteoarthritis Surgery
Around 1.8 million people every year opt for hip or knee replacements. But I don’t recommend surgery, unless it’s absolutely necessary. And new research reveals that in the month after they had surgery, these patients — many of whom are osteoarthritis sufferers — simply replaced their bad knees and hips with a heart attack. Osteoarthritis is the most common chronic condition of the joints. That’s why I recommend natural remedies that ease the pain of osteoarthritis in a much more effective and safer way — and in some cases they can even reverse this debilitating condition. You see, getting a new hi...

Nutrient for Tinnitus Treatment
If you’re suffering from tinnitus, I’m pretty sure doctors and ENT specialists have told you something like: “I’m afraid you’re just going to have to live with it” or “It’s just age-related hearing loss.” What is tinnitus? Tinnitus, the constant ringing, thundering, whooshing or whistling in the ears, is aggravating and nerve-racking. It robs you of sleep. It shatters your focus and concentration. And it drowns out your hearing, because of all the background noise in your head. Tinnitus is not a disease, but rather a symptom of some other underlying health condition. Ma...

Medications May Cause Dementia, But It Could Be Untreated Sleep Apnea
By Brandon R. Peters, M.D. The news was enough to give you indigestion: Some of the over-the-counter and prescription medications most widely used to treat heartburn and acid reflux are linked to the development of dementia. The research suggesting a possible association is the latest in a string of implicated drugs over the past few years, including medications taken to treat anxiety, seizures, insomnia, and allergies. What is going on? Before emptying out the medicine cabinet, take a moment to consider the role of untreated obstructive sleep apnea. Scientific research can be difficulty to contextualize, especially when...

Gout: Sleep apnea may raise your risk
Gout is the most common type of inflammatory arthritis and affects more than 8 million adults. Men are at a higher risk than women. And according to a new study, your risk for gout also climbs if you suffer from sleep apnea, a condition where your breathing repeatedly pauses while you sleep. What exactly is gout? Gout is triggered by the crystallization of uric acid within the joints. It happens like this: Your body produces uric acid from breaking down purines, a natural waste product of living cells. Normally, uric acid is dissolved in your blood and passes through your kidneys into your urine. However, sometimes your bo...
