The Intractable Debate over Guns
By SAURABH JHA When Russian forces stormed the school held hostage by Chechen terrorists, over 300 people died. The Beslan school siege wasn’t the worst terrorist attack arithmetically – the fatalities were only a tenth of September 11th. What made the school siege particularly gruesome was that many who died, and died in the most gruesome manner, were children. There’s something particularly distressing about kids being massacred, which can’t be quantified mathematically. You either get that point or you don’t. And the famed Chechen rebel, Shamil Basayev, got it. Issuing a statement after the attack Basayev clai...

Quackery and “ wellness ” : The case of David and Collet Stephan and their son Ezekiel
David and Collet Stephan stand convicted of not having provided their son Ezekiel with essential medical care, which led to his death from meningitis. None of this stopped the "wellness" industry from featuring David as a speaker at its expos; that is, until it started causing bad publicity. When that happened, Stephan was unceremoniously dumped. But the quackery in "wellness" remains unchanged. The post Quackery and “wellness”: The case of David and Collet Stephan and their son Ezekiel appeared first on RESPECTFUL INSOLENCE. Infection without Disease (from Precision Medicine and the Reinvention of Human Disease)
A prior post listed 7 assertions regarding the role of infectious organisms on the human genome. In the next few blogs we ' ll look at each assertion, in excerpts fromPrecision Medicine and the Reinvention of Human Disease. Here ' s the fifth:Normal defenses can block every infectious disease. Hence, every infectious disease results from a failure of our normal defenses, immunologic and otherwise. For any given infectious agent, no matter how virulent they may seem, there are always individuals who can resist infection. Moreover, as a generalization, the majority of individuals who are infected with a pathogenic microorgan...

Why Doctors should read books by Nassim Taleb
By SAURABH JHA, MD     “There are some enterprises in which a careful disorderliness is the true method” Herman Melville, Moby Dick Asymmetry of Error During the Ebola epidemic calls to ban flights from Africa from some quarters were met by accusations of racism from other quarters. Experts claimed that Americans were at greater risk of dying from cancer than Ebola, and if they must fret they should fret more about cancer than Ebola. How we can all help protect babies with immunizations
This study should mostly be a wake-up call to health care providers, who clearly need to do a better job of getting information about the benefits of immunization to pregnant women. But it also points out that every single one of us can make a difference, by getting the word out. The majority of American children are fully immunized, yet it’s the parents who choose not to immunize who are more vocal. That needs to change — especially because studies clearly show that when it comes to health information, the opinions of friends and family really do matter. So speak up. If you have vaccinated your children, talk with you...

Why You Should Never Sign the Refusal to Vaccinate Form
Conclusion These refusal to vaccinate forms were created to increase vaccination rates, scare parents, and potentially take children away from parents who decline vaccines or mandate medical treatment. Parents should refuse to sign these forms. Has your child’s health care provider asked you to sign a refusal to vaccinate form? How did you respond? Please share your experiences in the comments section below. You can help other parents by sharing this article on social media. What Every Parent Needs to Know About Back to School Vaccine Threats and Exemptions
Conclusion Because the mainstream media has financial interest in promoting vaccines, informed parents must seek information elsewhere about back to school vaccine mandates and exemptions. Parents, as you prepare to send your child back to school, do your homework and determine which exemptions are available in your area. A list of vaccine exemptions for all fifty states is published online by the National Vaccine Information Center. Sharing this article with other parents will also help them make informed decisions about vaccines. References: http://www.nvic.org/vaccine-laws/state-vaccine-requirements.aspx http://www.oma...

Doctors Do Know Best. Exhibit A: The Charlie Gard Case.
By SAURABH JHA, MD For American conservatives, Britain’s NHS is an antiquated Orwellian dystopia. For Brits, even those who don’t love the NHS, American conservatives are better suited to spaghetti westerns, such as Fistful of Dollars, than reality. The twain is unlikely to meet after the recent press surrounding Charlie Gard the infant, now deceased, with a rare, fatal mitochondrial disorder in which mitochondrial DNA is depleted – mitochondrial depletion disorder (MDD). In this condition, the cells lose their power supply and tissues, notably in the brain, die progressively and rapidly. The courts forbade Charlie...

The Failed MMR Vaccine Policies on College Campuses
Conclusions The current policy on most college campuses requires verification that incoming students have received two doses of the MMR vaccination. The goal of this policy is to prevent the diseases measles and mumps. A longstanding federal trial against Merck, the pharmaceutical company responsible for making the MMR vaccine, accuses Merck of manipulating data to show the MMR to be more effective against mumps than it is. Recent outbreaks of mumps on college campuses by students vaccinated with the MMR vaccine provides additional evidence that the MMR vaccine is ineffective. Data from the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting...

Undoctored: Health Should Be (Almost) Free
Follow the current debate on “healthcare reform”–which has NOTHING to do with healthcare reform, but healthcare insurance reform, by the way–and you will hear comments about the escalating and uncontrolled cost of healthcare and how people need access to it. What you will NOT hear is that fact that, because the healthcare system fails to deliver genuine health, real health is actually quite easy, straightforward, and inexpensive–nearly free. We achieve a life of being Undoctored, not becoming a profit source for the healthcare industry, not being subjected to the predatory practices of Big P...

Vaccine Ingredients: America ’s Dirty Little Secret
Conclusion The increase in childhood illness must have a cause or trigger. There must be common factors when half of America’s children are chronically ill. Could vaccine ingredients be the causal factor of the increase in childhood illnesses? This question remains unanswered by the CDC. As stated above, many CDC employees have a vested financial interest in continuing to sell and market vaccines. As childhood illnesses continue to increase, logic and reason must be applied to the debate and we must identify common factors. What do American children have in common? The large majority receive vaccines per the CDC schedule...
