Anyone else suffer from insomnia?
I realize that the nature of our field and being on call and woken up sporadically and randomly throughout the night (negatively) affects sleep cycles so even when I'm in the comfort of my own bed at home I don't sleep well; and then it just becomes a really vicious circle. I've tried all the "usual" remedies (melatonin, cherry juice, no screentime before bed, darkened room, meditation, etc.) and don't want to resort to meds at all. Any suggestions? Do you write for ambien from the ED?
Or any sleep drug? Trazodone? Or just tell them to get some melatonin. Not the drug addict weirdos, just legitimate people who swing by at 1am and can't get in to a PCP for a week or two. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How Much Sleep Night Before DAT?
This is simply a fun thread for curiosity purposes, but the question here is: How many hours of sleep did you manage to get the night before the DAT, and do you think it affected you significantly? Plus, what advice do you have for future DAT takers? Personally, I managed to get 8+ hours of sleep with no melatonin or any sleep aids. I simply stretched, relaxed my muscles, and took a few deep breaths. Then, I listened to this while my eyes were closed and I was trying to fall asleep.... How Much Sleep Night Before DAT? Natural Medication Alternatives (What options have worked well with your patients?)
Gout: Wild cherry juice. I've heard many say that they believe that works better than any pharmaceutical. I also personally like to recommend Melatonin for sleep. What do you guys like to recommend? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
