LOR question: Conflict if interest?
Hi All, Curious as to what thoughts are, or if anyone has been in a similar situation. I work as a medical device rep and spend significant time at a major research hospital with relatively respected and well known surgeons with whom I’m close with and am considering asking for a LOR from. As they are major customers/ clients of mine, is there a conflict of interest here? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC: Non-Traditional Older Applicant With Highs and Lows.
Hey there everyone, this is my first post on SDN, so I'll try my best to paint a clear picture. As a non-trad, there's a lot to summarize here. In short, I'm 29, have a master's, and decided to switch careers from industrial design (recently worked on medical device design/development) to pursue medicine. I am on my second attempt now, and predict that a round 3 will be necessary. I'll give a little summary of where I'm at now, and then what I plan to do next. If anyone could share their... I created an AirTag Holder for Stethoscopes and Other Medical Devices
Hi everyone! I wanted to share this AirTag holder/case I created. It is a multifunctional holder/case that can be attached to just about anything with the included mounting kit. You can attach it to your stethoscope, otoscope, or any other medical devices using the included zip ties, safety pins, and keychain cables. You can also attach it to your white coat or jacket with the safety pins in case that gets misplaced or lost. You can attach it inside of your laptop bag or luggage so it... Biomedical Engineering adding to Med School Class Diversity
I am trying to brainstorm ways in which a student with a bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering would add to the diversity of the medical school class in a positive way. In practice, it could be beneficial to assess the clinical relevance of novel medical devices, technological integration, or new approaches to providing treatments for patients with unmet medical needs. I'm thinking it could be an asset to the class, as biomedical engineers are trained problem-solvers, conceptualize... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SPACEOAR complications
regarding space oar, one DEATH was reported: we should continue to check the MAUDE database. Almost certainly underestimates number of true vs reported events. Medical Supplies
Hello! I have a family member who came from oversees and needs some medical supplies to take back home due to a shortage in our country. He needs IV fluids and kits for administration of IV fluids but no meds (he is receiving chemotherapy). Can I order those through one of these medical equipment websites using my license or will I get in trouble for that? Thanks for your help! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

pharmacist needed for pharmaceutical wholesaler?
so i came across this weird position. "For 15 years we are medical equipment and supplies company that is in the process of obtaining pharmaceutical wholesale license to be able to sell physician supplies." They need a pharmacist on board in order to register for this license. They only supply medical offices apparently. Have no idea about the distribution/wholesale side of things..... didn't even realize you had to be a pharmacist to register for one. anyone have any experience in the... School mandated vendor for medical equipment purchases for 1st year?
At a program at that shall remain unnamed, the incoming class recently received an email from the primary care faculty. To summarize, it demanded all incoming students purchase their stethoscope and medical equipment needed for doctoring classes from a specific private company, for a specific, rather high price. The email also specified that failing to purchase their equipment from that company (and sending the receipts to the primary care department to prove it) may have their... Enterpreneurship medical device in academic vs private practice
As a medical student, I think that (and i may be wrong) most surgical innovations and medical devices come out of physicians from universities and I find they are co founders to many devices. But Dr John Alder, Stanford neurosurgeon who invented gamma knife surgery said in the surgeon agent interview that he would actually have been in private practice in todays world and innovative spirit is much easily nurtured in private practice world than in academic. So are there even more... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Stanford vs. Columbia
Hi everyone!! Very grateful to be deciding between 2 wonderful schools, and just wanted to see if y'all had any thoughts. For context, I'm very interested in medical innovation and medical device development, particularly for pediatrics and patients in global health settings (specialty of interest would be some type of surgery, probably pediatrics, plastics, or global surgery). Also hoping to pursue an MD/MBA and get involved in the medical entrepreneurship space while still being a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
