How hard is gen surgery for a DO?
I think after spending hours shadowing multiple physicians over the past 3 years, filing my own medical device patents, and spending a single semester in a carribbean school I would like to try to get into surgery, just general. I enjoy being in the operating room and working with anatomy. I am currently interning at Intuitive Surgical, and when I see the device being used on a daily basis I am pretty confident that is what I want to get into Is surgery a long shot for an... Recommendations on medical supplies for M1?
Hello all. Starting M1 this fall. I'm required to buy a reflex hammer, snellen eye chart, tuning fork 128hz and pen light. They also recommend getting a blood pressure cuff. 1. Do you guys have any recommendations on which particular brands/items i should get? 2. How much does the quality of the reflex hammer matter? There are a few cheap ones on amazon but some of the reviews call them "toys" rather than medical equipment, so I'm unsure if those are worth getting. 3. While it is not... Medical Article Opportunity
Hi medical students and professionals! I'm writing on behalf of a major UK medical equipment specialist with what I think is a pretty great opportunity. We've recently launched a new blog, and would love to give some of you a chance of writing an article. While we can't pay you, we can give you full recognition for your great article, as well as linking any website or blog of your own that you might have. As a former medical student myself, I personally would have loved this opportunity... Medical Article Opportunity (Source: Student Doctor Network)

the recalls we never learn about!
So a couple weeks past when getting a new delivery of drink supplement the coordinator discovered that there was a recall covering the product we had, but thankfully it wasn't the lot we had at home. From our discussion it sounded like medical supplies etc are usually handled from the suppliers and thus not published more broadly, so I went to fda.gov to request email updates of various recalls in the event. A couple days ago the following came through. This looks like it's been an issue for years and who knows what the hospitals/clinics are doing. Augh. Endoscope Washer/Disinfectors by Custom Ultrasonics: Safety Com...

Innovations in Cardiology
Hi everyone,  I have heard a lot about interaction between innovations and cardiology supply, but have never seen something concretely new and as much effective as described. Maybe someone has some examples of such innovative cardio medical devices or equipment? I'm pleased to hear any of your useful minds and suggestions about this theme. Thanks:) (Source: Doc2Doc BMJ Cardiology)

Vest & Neb Storage
I'm looking for advice in regards to how and where families are storing their vest/neb/medical equipment when not in use. Currently, my daughter's vest is in the living room. She gets treatments twice a day regularly and sometimes 4 times when she's sick. Because of how often she uses it, it doesn't make sense for our family to put it "away" every time. Unfortunately, it gets mess-ily shoved in a corner of the living room with cords and tubes everywhere. I have been looking for a small hutch or side table with doors to store it. I was also thinking my husband could drill a hole in the back for the electrical c...
