Anyone know what is happening to Codingline?
I got an email that Codingline is closing as of Dec 31, 2023. This is terrible news, this was the best podiatry billing and coding resource anywhere. Has anyone heard what happened? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

"Incident-To" (Supervisory) Billing with Headway and/or Hello Alma
Hello all! I am an early-career psychologist who has been paneled with Alma for a few years. My caseload is about 50% private pay and 50% insurance (providing Telehealth services in New York State). I only accept Aetna through Alma. My question is this: Is it possible to bill Aetna (through Alma/Headway) for services provided by supervisees (psychologists or mental health counselors who are accruing hours toward licensure). Aetna allows incident-to billing (supervisory billing),... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Physician Owned Billing Company in Virginia
Hello everyone. I wanted to share that myself and about a dozen other Anesthesiologists have founded a physician-owned anesthesia billing company affiliated with our private practice in Roanoke, Va. Our model is boutique service for small to medium size groups, providing service and transparency beyond what is provided by national firms. Our plan is to grow slowly and carefully, but we have been successful and feel very prepared to take on one or two more clients at this time. This is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

getting paid for nursing home patients?
hello all, I'm looking for some advice. I have a friend who has a billing company that kinda specializes in nursing home care. We partnered up and I have taken on quite a few patients in about 4 or 5 homes. We have been going on for about a month. My only hang up, is that I am not familiar with the logistics in this space. billing aside, How are docs usually compensated in these scenarios? The staff is usually calling me and I have to do all these orders and mindless paperwork, but I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

EMR/EHR experiences.
Which EMR do you use and what are the pros and cons? Hospital vs private practice? Here is my limited knowledge. Athena - takes 8% in billing. It took a couple weeks to get used to all the clicking. Not an intuitive design. I don't know monthly cost. NextGen - This was easy to use for nursing home work. Avg note time 1-5 mins. I do not know its monthly cost nor billing options. CPRS - This is used by the VA system so its free. Lots and lots of clicking but everything was free for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anyone else think its bogus our start up units are reimbursed based on the surgery itself?
Anyone think its annoying that our base units are reimbursed based on the reimbursement of the surgery itself? Like we get 13 units for a ACDF, but 4 units for a prone leg stab phlebectomy, or a prone back mass excision. 5 units for a BiV ICD in a guy with an EF of 10%. Do you think billing codes will ever change to fit the risk of the procedure vs just the surgical compensation? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Billing while Moonlighting
So I'm about to start PGY-4 and have been faced with a Hospital/CPEP raising concerns about possible billing limitations because I am still a resident. I wonder if anyone has had to navigate this. Thank you very much. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Coding questions
1) For SIJ in an ASC, I just learned that Medicare wants g0260 and 77002, NOT 27096. Does anyone know whether this is true fur any private insurances? 2) Medicare says a facet joint cyst aspiration/rupture is 64999... are any of you billing this? I have heard the code doesn't pay anything. I previously had been billing a 1 level facet joint injection and if I do a TFESI I will also bill the TFESI. Now I"m not sure what's correct? Basic orthopedic course for GPs
Hey all, I'm an orthopedic surgeon putting together a course teaching general practitioners everything there is to know about diagnosis and management of the most common musculoskeletal complaints that come into your clinic, including performing basic procedures/injections and coding/billing for them. Billing
How do you guys do your billing ? I work in pp and use epic for our emr. We print out the billing anesthesia record from epic and staple it to our billing slip. Then send it to a billing company who takes a percentage and bills for us. I feel like this is extremely inefficient since everything we write on the billing slip is already recorded on epic and a huge waste of paper. We also have had rare chances that billing company makes mistake or the billing slip is missing. Just curious if... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Coding mbb/rfa
Has this changed again? I thought it was -50 for the 1st level and x2 for the 2nd level? The biller disagrees and I can’t find a good resource to settle the matter. RVU goals and expectations
Hi all, I'm on the trail for PCCM jobs and was offered an academic position in a large coastal metroplex. They quoted a wRVU goal of 6200 with a bonus of $30 per wRVU over that. I'm new to billing side of things. How attainable or "busy" is the RVU goal and is this typically attached on all academic or PP jobs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
