Enhancing Safety in Tumescent Liposuction: Managing Sedation-Related Respiratory Issues and Serious Complications Under Deep Sedation with the Propofol –Ketamine Protocol
ConclusionsThe analysis of 3094 tumescent liposuction cases highlighted the overall safety profile of the propofol –ketamine protocol under deep sedation. The scarcity of severe complications underscores its viability. The study emphasizes the significance of thorough preoperative assessments, careful patient selection, and awareness of potential complications. Prompt interventions, particularly in addressing sedation-related respiratory issues, further contribute to positive outcomes for patients.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Type IV Collagen Promotes Adipogenic Differentiation of Adipose Stem Cells
In this study, ASCs were obtained from human liposuction samples and cultured. Lipogenic induction of ASCs was achieved using lipogenic induction medium. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed differential expression of type IV collagen during the early and late stages of adipogenic induction, displaying a distinct morphological encapsulation of ASCs. Silencing of type IV collagen using siRNA resulted in a significant decrease in adipogenic capacity, as indicated by reduced lipid droplet formation and downregulation of adipogenic-related gene transcription. Conversely, supplementation of the culture medium with synthetic typ...

Liposuction-Only Breast Reduction: A Systematic Review of Outcomes
ConclusionMacromastia leads to a considerable health burden, especially in health-related costs. From the current evidence base, liposuction-only breast reduction appears to be a safe and effective procedure, especially in patients requiring a mild –moderate breast volume reduction and mild ptosis correction. More research is required, with standardised subjective and objective outcome measures, and longer follow-up periods to confirm the effectiveness and safety of this technique.Level of Evidence III This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. In Vitro Study of Thymosin Beta 4 Promoting Transplanted Fat Survival by Regulating Adipose-Derived Stem Cells
ConclusionsT β4 enhances adipose viability in AFG via facilitating ADSC proliferation and reducing apoptosis, and acts as a crucial positive regulator of ADSC-associated angiogenesis. Additionally, Tβ4 could be accountable for the phenotypic adjustment of ADSCs by regulating the Hippo pathway. No Level AssignedThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each submission to which Evidence-Based Medicine rankings are applicable. Quality of life following liposuction for lipoedema: a prospective outcome study
CONCLUSIONS: Liposuction improves the quality of life in lipoedema patients. Post-operatively, our patients reported less pain and were more satisfied with their bodies and appearance. The hypothesis that liposuction in lipoedema improves the quality of life as a multidimensional construct could be confirmed.PMID:38402815 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjps.2024.02.048 (Source: Hand Surgery)
