Research question
Hi guys, I'm a new hem/onc fellow looking to go into an academic career in leukemia/MPDs. I'm perfectly happy with the type of current clinical/translational research I'm getting to do. However, I'm looking for a bigger idea. Do any of you have a suggestion on an important far reaching question, which, if answered, will have a tremendous impact on the field? Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CRISPR and Gene Editing Treatment
Anyone else find this new treatment exciting? Hopefully one day in the future gene-editing treatment will be a routine, alternative treatment for those with genomic/chromosomal abnormalities (multiple sclerosis, cancer, lupus, etc). I just saw this one story about this little girl who had leukemia, and it was very progressive and nothing could be done for her. However, she was one of the first to apparently have been used with CRISPR, where they changed the DNA of her WBC's so they can... CRISPR and Gene Editing Treatment (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Engineering to med school
Hi all, thanks for taking the time to read through this. I have a strange background, and I am wondering what is the best path for me to take. I am a computer engineering student at a top 10 engineering school. I have also done 3 years of biomedical research in a leukemia lab, and I am applying to medical school this cycle. I have a great passion for both technology and my research, and I plan to remain involved in both during my medical training. Initially it made sense to me to apply MD... Do I Have A Fighting Chance?
Hello, I am Finn and I am hoping to apply to Medicine for 2014 entry, the following rant is probably inappropriately long (I will include a TLDR section at the bottom). I am looking for people who would be able to tell me whether I have a fighting chance for applying to Medicine this year. I will not go into details about why I want to because I would like to keep this nice and objective and opinionated, cold hearted S.O.B.s will be appreciated because applying this year will put a lot of strain on me (Financially, work load, social life, etc...) and I need to know if I am wasting my time (and if not, what Scottish Med Sc...

MD What are your thoughts?
Hey everyone, currently trying to decide where to apply. But first, here is a few of my stats. Residence: CA cGPA: 3.8 sGPA: 3.9 MCAT: 31 (12/7/12) I realize that my VR score is rather low and I may get screened some places (how would I find out where?) I’ve decided that I’m going to apply this next cycle, and if I don’t get in I’ll muster up the courage to retake. Reason I’m not retaking before next cycle is that I legitimately do not think I can get VR score much higher than it is. By the time I apply, I’ll have approximately: 150 clinical hours 400 research hours in leukemia lab 100 hours shadowing 50 hours o...
