Inpatient career options
Hey Folks, I just wanted to ask people here who are more experienced on the career trail about whether / how they've seen inpatient-focused heme/onc jobs laid out? (especially @whoknows2012). I'm entertaining the idea of looking for a hospital-employed gig with a 7-on 7-off shift work model. I don't really want to do BMT but I really do enjoy inducing leukemias / lymphomas / small cell lung cancers and seeing various consults in the hospital, then bidding "adieu" to patients when... ibrutinib and bleeding risk
Anyone familiar with this medication? Used for some lymphomas and leukemia, apparently some higher bleeding risk. It affects platelet function. UptoDate says risks/benefits of holding 3-7 days. I have a patient on this scheduled for TFESI so thinking of just continuing (recently started doing these on blood thinners). If ILESI I think I would send note to oncologist to stop 5-7 days. Thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I got a C in English 105 and two W will that affect my chance for medical school?
Hello everyone I got a C in English 105 the teacher was a very hard grader she wouldn’t let me fix things at all and according to rate my professor she has poor reviews. The other W are because I had leukemia and I had to drop since I couldn’t take it at all. My gpa is a 3.80 since I took a lot of computer classes but I swap to them biology bachelors. Will this affect my chances? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How many W for medical school acceptable
Hello everyone I would like to find out how many W are acceptable for medical school? I took my first W in 2017 they were able to fix it in 2021 because I had leukemia it came back and I was readmitted to the hospital and now I’m better and then give me that one W my 2nd was this summer because the teacher was very picky and she claims she was calling me during class via zoom but I couldn’t get her because everyone else was talking at once and I didn’t school well on my last two assignments. Acute back pain in patient with SCS
54 year old with history of leukemia in remission. Left foot crush injury with CRPS. Had SCS placed several years ago. I did the trial and an SCS experienced NS did the implant. Right lead for non-specific LBP and left lead for the foot. Has done well. Last week complained of acute onset intense midline low back pressure. On exam only thing notable is TTP in midline over the horizontally placed anchor. Anchor does appear to be fairly superficial He has intentionally lost 75lbs since... Bone pain?
I have a late 30's female patient with a history of leukemia (bone marrow transplant, chemo, nephrectomy), who has lateral hip and thigh pain. Unilateral pain. No obvious exacerbating or alleviating factors. Moderate to severe intensity, constant. She's got femoral diaphysis infarctions, several of them, and they match up exactly where she hurts. The lateral hip distribution isn't the main focus, it is the proximal and lateral thigh. She's got buttock pain as well, which was positive on... Bone pain? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advanced Practice Provider....but how and which one!?
I know this is a super difficult question to answer and is specific to each person but hopefully someone can give me some insight. I’m a medical technologist (just graduated with my bachelors in 2018). My work involves analyzing flow cytometey results to determine if a patient had leukemia/lymphoma and what kind. My work is intetesting but extremely unique for someone with my degree. My SO is graduating with a PhD in 2 years and we’re planning to move for his future job, so basically my... Good source for leukemia/lymphoma
No matter how much I go over these they don't seem to stick for some reason. I have a ton of trouble looking at a blood cell profile and figuring out what kinda leukemia they have. Anyone have a good source that worked for them other than FA/UW? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Adult ALL with isolated CNS relapse
Just got called to see an adult patient in her 50s with h/o ALL, s/p allo transplant 5+ years ago. Now presents with isolated CNS relapse with some evidence of leptomeningeal disease near the lesion. I've yet to see the images, but per report no evidence of spinal disease. Our program does do TBI, so I see a fair number of leukemia patients. How would you dose/fractionate? I know kids with ALL are treated to 18-24 Gy (18 Gy more commonly now I believe) to the brain and 6 Gy to the spine,... Adult ALL with isolated CNS relapse (Source: Student Doctor Network)
