MD What are your thoughts?
Hey everyone, currently trying to decide where to apply. But first, here is a few of my stats.
Residence: CA
cGPA: 3.8
sGPA: 3.9
MCAT: 31 (12/7/12)
I realize that my VR score is rather low and I may get screened some places (how would I find out where?) Ive decided that Im going to apply this next cycle, and if I dont get in Ill muster up the courage to retake. Reason Im not retaking before next cycle is that I legitimately do not think I can get VR score much higher than it is.
By the time I apply, Ill have approximately:
150 clinical hours
400 research hours in leukemia lab
100 hours shadowing
50 hours of non-clinical volunteer
300 hours of work as a lab assistant (no research involved, just lab crap work of the lab)
Member of Pre-Med Fraternity
Mentor of undergraduate students
Member of a Health Professionals Mentor program (essentially shadowing)
The way I compiled the following list is based on my LizzyM Score, as well as an OOS acceptance rate greater than 50%. Yes, I know I shouldnt determine schools based off of this stat, but its a starting point relative to my GPA/MCAT. I have yet to consider qualities of a school such as grading system and focus on research/clinical. Although there are almost 30 schools here, I plan to cut the list down to 15-20. I just dont know where to start.
