Quantitative analyses of sennosides A and B in eight ethical bofutsushosan extract products
ConclusionIt is recommended that the quantities of sennosides A and B in Kampo extract products, including Rhubarb, be described in the package insert. When preparing Rhubarb-containing Kampo medicines, sennosides A and B decomposition can be ignored for decoction times of up to 60  min. Further studies on the biological activity of secondary metabolites other than sennosides A and B are necessary for Rhubarb quality control. (Source: Traditional and Kampo Medicine)

Effect of Majoon ‐e‐Nisyan (a traditional polyherbal Unani formulation) in animal models of learning and memory
ConclusionThe study indicated thatmajoon-e-nisyan had a beneficial effect on cognitive functions at tested dose levels of 1000 and 1500  mg/kg bw in both models. However, the dose of 500 mg/kg bw was ineffective. The current study was successful in demonstrating the effectiveness ofmajoon-e-nisyan using two validated mouse models. Our findings provide more evidence in favor of the concept of hot-tempered medications used in traditional Unani medicine to treat dementia. This formulation may be used as an alternative to conventional dementia medications. (Source: Traditional and Kampo Medicine)
