Goreisan regulates AQP3 expression and improves diarrhea
ConclusionGRS has both an antidiarrhea effect and an intestinal tissue ‐protective effect, which it exerts through the inhibition of an inflammation‐induced decrease in intestinal AQP3 expression. Our data strongly support the clinical usefulness of GRS to prevent dehydration in infectious gastroenteritis as well as the pharmacological rationale for using GRS to tr eat this disease. Profiling of 120 types of herbal extracts and their effects on morphology in cultured neuronal or glial cell lines, followed by RNA extraction for a cDNA library: Consideration for use in studies based on Kampo theories
ConclusionThe present results, which were collected from observations under unified conditions, include information that will promote herbal medicine research. Future studies to examine the effects of crude drug combinations are also discussed, suggesting that the information files and cDNA library presented here can be the basis for many future integrated studies such as new Wakan ‐yaku prescription developments. Goreisan inhibits vascular endothelial cell migration and angiogenesis
ConclusionThe findings indicated that GRS can suppress angiogenesis through inhibiting the migration of endothelial cells by downregulating ERK activation and aquaporin ‐1 expression, leading to the preventive effect of GRS against CSDH recurrence. (Source: Traditional and Kampo Medicine)

Kakkonto, shosaikoto, Platycodon grandiflorum root, and gypsum (a Japanese original combination drug known as saikatsugekito): Pharmacological review of its activity against viral infections and respiratory inflammatory conditions and a discussion of its applications to COVID ‐19
ConclusionThe results demonstrated that Kampo medicine has therapeutic activities against single ‐strand RNA virus infections and respiratory inflammation, and may also have activities against SARS‐CoV‐2. Further research is required to investigate the activity of Kampo medicines, such as saikatsugekito, against SARS‐CoV‐2. (Source: Traditional and Kampo Medicine)
