Benefits of intraoperative cholangiogram for acute cholecystitis
ConclusionIn the context of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, IOC has a significant role to play. Our data show that it can reduce the likelihood of complications, retained stones and the need to convert to an open procedure. However, its routine use at present is difficult to justify given that the current study does not appear to make a difference in the most serious complications such as bile duct injury and bile leak. This study builds on previous work in justifying increased use of IOC during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. (Source: Surgical Practice)

Granulomatous Crohn's disease follows a more aggressive clinical course?
ConclusionsThis study showed an increased risk of postoperative complications in patients with granulomatous Crohn's disease. Gastrointestinal stromal tumour of the ampulla of Vater: Use of endoscopic ultrasound for local evaluation and guidance of management plan
AbstractGastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) account for less than 1% of all gastrointestinal tumours. It mainly involves the stomach and small intestines and very rarely involves the ampulla of Vater. Endoscopic biopsy and endoscopic ultrasound allow for preoperative tissue diagnosis and local evaluation of the ampullary lesions. We herein report the case of a patient with GIST of the ampulla of Vater presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding and undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy. The management of ampullary GIST is reviewed. (Source: Surgical Practice)

Comparative study between laparoscopically harvested omental flap and glandular flap in immediate reconstruction after conservative surgery in breast cancer
ConclusionThe glandular flap has shorter operative time and less extensive surgery than omental flap. The omental flap has the potential to recreate a soft, naturally ptotic breast shape that is ideal for matching with the contralateral breast. (Source: Surgical Practice)
