Intraoral low condilectomy for the treatment of condylar hiperplasia. Case report
The objective of this work is to present the case of an active unilateral condylar hyperplasia, which was treated by low condylectomy with an intraoral approach and orthognathic surgery. The intraoral approach to a condylectomy has been poorly documented; however it offers numerous advantages and can be performed safely. (Source: Revista Espanola de Cirugia Oral y Maxilofacial)

Malignant salivary gland tumors: a retrospective study of patients treated at La Paz hospital between 2008 and 2018
Discussion: Unlike other studies, in our case the most frequent lineage of salivary glands tumors is adenoid cystic carcinoma. This could be explained because our hospital is a reference in facial paralysis. One of the most important points in the management of these patients is not only the local and distant control of the tumor, but also the treatment of possible sequelae. Sacral metastasis of a low-grade acinar cell carcinoma of the parotid gland

Jaw metastasis as first presentation of lung adenocarcinoma. A case report
We present the case of a 64 year-old-female patient who was admitted to hospital complaining of pain and swelling located to the left mandibular ascending ramus and angle, with 7 month duration. The first differential diagnosis was between primary malignances of the oral cavity, but the biopsy revealed a carcinoma of unknown origin. Further investigation revealed an advanced stage primary adenocarcinoma of the lung. Oral metastasis are usually evidence of a widespread disease and indicate a poor prognosis. As consequence, the treatment modalities for these patients are palliative in most cases. The clinical case of a 41-ye...

Disseminated iatrogenic Kaposi's sarcoma with debut in the maxillary gingiva: a case report

Double thyroid ectopy: case report
We present a 39 year old female patient who was under follow up because of a double thyroid ectopic tissue: in the tongue base and left submandibular locations. She was derived to our Department after a growth of the submandibular subunit in the last year was detected in the computed tomography scan (CT). She was asymptomatic and thyroid functionality tests were normal. Surgical treatment of the submandibular thyroid tissue was consensuated, with a modified Risdon like approach, and monitoring of the nodule at the base of the tongue. Reconstruction of composite facial defects: nasal sidewall and medial cheek. The importance of two flaps technique
ABSTRACT Facial skin defects affecting the nasal sidewall and medial cheek entail a reconstructive challenge for the surgeon. They belong to the central third of the face and thus, they have a direct impact on aesthetics. The difficulty in repairing these defects lies in the need to restore facial symmetry and three-dimensionality. In addition, there is a need to preserve the qualities of the skin of each subunit, since they have a different dermal thickness and different number of sebaceous glands. That is the reason why these defects should not be addressed using a single flap and they require a different reconstructive ...

Combined endoscopic and open approach for a salivary gland carcinoma at the pterygoid region
We report a technical note in a case of a malignant tumor in the pterygopalatine fossae which was excised combining an open transmaxillary approach and an endoscopic transnasal approach. We believe that a combined approach offers more security in the oncological resection, minimizing the aggressivity of the open approach through the endoscopic assistance.RESUMEN Las tumoraciones localizadas en la regi ón pterigopalatina y en la fosa infratemporal son difíciles de acceder, lo que puede comprometer los resultados oncológicos. Existen abordajes abiertos y endoscópicos, cada uno con ventajas e inconvenientes. Presentamos u...
