What is your diagnosis?
This article presents the case report of a giant lateral dermoid cyst in the floor of mouth surgically excised by intraoral approach, initially misdiagnosed by imaging studies as a ranula. Other cases of dermoid cysts preoperatively diagnosed ranulae are present in literature, but none directly compares their clinical, radiological and therapeutic aspects. This article will also discuss these aspects in order to possibly aid in their correct diagnosis and management.ABSTRACT Este art ículo presenta el caso clínico de un gran quiste dermoide lateral en el suelo de la boca, extirpado quirúrgicamente por abordaje intraoral...

Evaluation of arterial oxygen saturation during oral surgery procedures in smoker patients
Conclusiones: Los pacientes fumadores de más de 20 p/a y con diagnóstico de EPOC presentaron disminuciones significativas del %SpO2 durante la realización de procedimientos odontológicos independientemente de su duración total; sin embargo, no se evidenciaron manifestaciones clínicas de hipoxemia.ABSTRACT Introduction: Hypoxemia commonly arises in dental patients with lung diseases during and after surgery and requires monitoring patients' blood oxygenation to identify life-threatening problems. Results of platelet rich fibrin and bone grafts in guided bone regeneration. A systematic review
Conclusion: The combination of PRF plus bone filler promotes bone neoformation, increased trabecular bones, and improved healing times; however, after 6 months of monitoring, the results were not significantly different with the groups that did not use the PRF in the procedure of maxillary sinus floor lift with lateral window technique. Regarding the preservation of alveolar ridge the different studies are not conclusive: some indicate that the mixture of a concentrate with a bone filling seems to improve the volumetric proportions; however, other studies report bone loss in width and even greater degree of inflammation. Miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expander
We present a case of a 19-month infant who was taken to the Emergency Department due to fever and a gingival lesion that did not respond to antibiotic treatment. An ultrasound study was requested to assess the presence of an abscess. However, a lesion was identified and after performing a biopsy, pathologist found it was a myeloid sarcoma. The patient was diagnosed with AML and chemotherapy treatment was started. After three cycles of treatment, the patient is currently free of disease. Facial located B-cell lymphoma
Conclusiones: El tratamiento resectivo presenta las menores tasas de recurrencia, aunque se considera que el QO puede ser abordado de una manera más conservadora dada su naturaleza benigna.ABSTRACT Introduction: The odontogenic keratocystic (OK) is considered nowadays as a benign odontogenic tumor. Nevertheless, it has an aggressive nature due mainly to its local expansive potential and its high recurrence rate. Currently, there are different therapeutic approaches that are directly related to the recurrence rates of this type of tumor.
