Hybrid laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) pyeloplasty: Initial experience in children.
Authors: Ben Dhaou M, Zouari M, Ammar S, Zitouni H, Jallouli M, Mhiri R Abstract BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Mini-invasive surgery is still evolving to get better surgical conditions for patients with ureteropelvic junction obstruction. We used technical modifications (hybrid pyeloplasty) that simplify surgical steps of laparoendoscopic single-site pyeloplasty in children. Our aim was to compare hybrid pyeloplasty to laparoendoscopic single-site pyeloplasty and to open pyeloplasty. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed records of patients with ureteropelvic junction obstruction aged

The objective of our study was to explore the impact of age and body mass index (BMI) on postoperative incontinence, and the impact of such incontinence and urinary symptoms on QoL. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two hundred and seventy two patients undergoing robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy answered the questionnaires ICIQ-UI short-form (evaluating UI) and EORTC QoL PR25 (evaluating QoL) in the preoperative setting, then at 1, 3, 12 et 24 months after surgery. Patient-reported long-term sexual outcomes following plication surgery for penile curvature: A retrospective 58-patient study.
CONCLUSION: Our study suggests that even when successful, a relatively high rate of patients may be unsatisfied with the results of plication surgery, and there may be a relatively low rate of maintenance or improvement of postoperative sexual life. Furthermore, our in-house questionnaire, although not validated, shed light on how bothersome the loss of penis length is in postoperative sexuality, an aspect the IIEF5 and its sole evaluation of erectile quality cannot detect. Intravesical instillations are performed postoperatively to decrease the rate of recurrence. The standard agents currently used are Mitomycin-C (MMC) or bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). In order to further enhance the efficacy of the adjuvant treatments and/or diminish their side effects, alternative treatments are studied.
