Prospective controlled study evaluating teleconsultation and tele-semiology for the management of renal colic
CONCLUSION: An sPLF is feasible but its practice should be taught. Unlike interns, senior physicians were able to perform a TC comparable to FC for the management of SRC. TC and telesemiology therefore require dedicated training and an experienced practitioner.PMID:37806910 | DOI:10.1016/j.purol.2023.09.025 (Source: Progres en Urologie)

Acceptability of innovative male contraceptive methods among major of age heterosexual adult men in France in 2021
CONCLUSION: Despite its limitations, this study shows that a significant part of the male population is interested in innovative methods of contraception that concern them. This should encourage continued research in this area.PMID:37806909 | DOI:10.1016/j.purol.2023.09.022 (Source: Progres en Urologie)

Early detection of prostate cancer: Towards a new paradigm?
Prog Urol. 2023 Oct 5:S1166-7087(23)00219-1. doi: 10.1016/j.purol.2023.09.016. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTProstate cancer (PCa) is a public health issue. The diagnostic strategy for PCa is well codified and assessed by digital rectal examination, PSA testing and multiparametric MRI, which may or may not lead to prostate biopsies. The formal benefit of organized PCa screening, studied more than 10 years ago at an international scale and for all incomers, is not demonstrated. However, diagnostic and therapeutic modalities have evolved since the pivotal studies. The contribution of MRI and targeted biopsies, the widespread...

What more comprehensive physiotherapy techniques than pelvic floor muscles training should be investigated in the context of post-prostatectomy? A narrative review
CONCLUSION: We found 13 studies from 9 different countries that provide a more complete rehabilitation approach than PFMT alone in men post-RP. Intervention strategies were built around five main types of exercises, with the majority of them emphasizing synergies, co-activations, and movement control techniques. In light of these data, we hope that future research will enable us to offer the most relevant and patient-centered physiotherapy treatment.PMID:37798160 | DOI:10.1016/j.purol.2023.09.017 (Source: Progres en Urologie)

Evaluation of local control after percutaneous microwave ablation versus partial nephrectomy: A propensity score matched study
CONCLUSION: This study shows that MWA was associated with higher risk of recurrence but similar metastasis-free survival and overall survival compared to PN. Recurrence was treated with new MWA or active surveillance. MWA may be an interesting alternative to PN for small renal tumors.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Grade C.PMID:37798161 | DOI:10.1016/j.purol.2023.09.021 (Source: Progres en Urologie)
