New postoperative pain instrument for toddlers-Secondary analysis of prospectively collected assessments after tonsil surgery
CONCLUSIONS: The new instrument is easy to use and may improve postoperative pain intensity assessment in children. However, it requires prospective validation in a new cohort.PMID:38140808 | DOI:10.1111/pan.14824 (Source: Paediatric Anaesthesia)

Negative pressure suction test: An intraoperative airway maneuver to assess effectiveness of surgical correction of tracheobronchomalacia
CONCLUSIONS: As surgeries to repair TBM become more prevalent in other pediatric institutions, we believe that pediatric patients and anesthesia providers will benefit from the insights and methods described here.PMID:38130114 | DOI:10.1111/pan.14822 (Source: Paediatric Anaesthesia)

Incidence of emergence agitation in children undergoing sevoflurane anesthesia compared to isoflurane anesthesia: An  updated systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The risk of emergence agitation in children after maintenance anesthesia with sevoflurane is significantly greater than with isoflurane; we did not find evidence of prolonged emergence or postanesthetic length of stay. When possible, isoflurane should be considered for maintenance anesthesia over sevoflurane in patients at high risk of emergence agitation.PMID:38093624 | DOI:10.1111/pan.14819 (Source: Paediatric Anaesthesia)

The pediatric anesthesiology publication activity and landscape over the past two decades: A longitudinal scientometric analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Publication activity in pediatric anesthesiology has increased from 2001 to 2020 and has become more geographically diverse. With the volume of international collaborations even outpacing this growth, it is hoped that this will gradually lead to a larger evidence base in pediatric anesthesia.PMID:38084801 | DOI:10.1111/pan.14811 (Source: Paediatric Anaesthesia)
