Mapping brain volume change across time in primary-progressive multiple sclerosis
ConclusionsConstructing age- and gender-related brain volume maps enabled identifying PPMS patients at a higher risk of brain volume loss. Monitoring these high-risk patients may lead to better treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes. (Source: Neuroradiology)

Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation: does size affect outcome?
ConclusionsSemiautomated VGAM volumetry is feasible and reliable with improved reproducibility compared to the manual method. VGAM volume is not a prognostic factor for clinical outcome, but it is related to other venous findings with potential hemodynamic effects. (Source: Neuroradiology)

Establishment and validation of a CT-based prediction model for the good dissolution of mild chronic subdural hematoma with atorvastatin treatment
ConclusionThe imaging data-based prediction model has demonstrated great prediction accuracy for good hematoma dissolution in mild CSDH patients undergoing atorvastatin treatment. The study results emphasize the importance of imaging data evaluation in the management of CSDH patients. (Source: Neuroradiology)

Evaluating the diagnostic performance of non-contrast magnetic resonance angiography sequences in the pre-procedural comprehensive analysis of direct carotid cavernous fistula
ConclusionArterial characteristics of DCCF like rent location and rent size were better assessed by TOF MRA. Although both MRA identified venous features, silent MRA correlated better with DSA irrespective of the size and proximity to the site of the fistula. Combining both sequences can evaluate various angioarchitectural features of DCCF useful for therapeutic planning. (Source: Neuroradiology)

The role of CT brain findings in the early diagnosis of infantile encephalitic beriberi
ConclusionRecognition of symmetrical hypodense lesions in the basal ganglia and medial thalami/hypothalamic/subthalamic area on noncontrast CT scan of the brain are important early features to recognize in encephalitic beriberi in at-risk infants.Advances in knowledgeIEBB is a cause of hypodense bilateral basal ganglia and may be identified by this finding in the appropriate clinical settings. Arterial spin labelling magnetic resonance imaging and perfusion patterns in neurocognitive and other mental disorders: a systematic review
AbstractWe reviewed 33 original research studies assessing brain perfusion, using consensus guidelines from a “white paper” issued by the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Perfusion Study Group and the European Cooperation in Science and Technology Action BM1103 (“Arterial Spin Labelling Initiative in Dementia”;https://www.cost.eu/actions/BM1103/). The studies were published between 2011 and 2023 and included participants with subjective cognitive declineplus; neurocognitive disorders, including mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer ’s disease (AD), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (F...

Medulla and cervical cord contrast-induced encephalopathy detected by neuromonitoring during coil embolization of posterior circulation aneurysms
We present the case of a 73-year-old woman who developed CIE in the medulla and cervical cord during coil embolization for unruptured left basilar-superior cerebellar artery and basilar artery tip aneurysms. The CIE was identified via neuromonitoring. In this case, spinal cord ischemia might have occurred due to reduced perfusion pressure after inserting the distal access catheter (DAC) in the vertebral artery. Multiple injections of contrast medium via the DAC during coil embolization likely contributed to an unusual form of CIE. Extreme caution is warranted during endovascular treatments involving the posterior circulati...
