Maternal Distress in Disclosing a Nonlethal Fetal Anomaly Diagnosis to Family and Friends
Purpose: To describe experiences of women disclosing a nonlethal fetal anomaly diagnosis to family and friends from initial prenatal diagnosis through postpartum. Study Design and Methods: A descriptive, qualitative approach was used to explore women's perceptions of nonlethal fetal anomaly diagnosis in a high-risk obstetric clinic. Relationship with the Father of the Baby and Pregnancy-Related Anxiety among Pregnant Black Women
Purpose: Pregnancy-related anxiety may increase the risk of preterm birth. Effective coping strategies and social support may help minimize pregnancy-related anxiety. Study Design: Secondary analysis of cross-sectional data. Methods: A sample of 408 pregnant non-Hispanic Black women completed questionnaires between 19 and 31 weeks gestation. The Gastrointestinal Microbiome in Infant Colic: A Scoping Review
The significant crying of infantile colic adds stress to the infant and their family, yet it has no recognized etiology. Gastrointestinal health problems and dysfunction have been suspected in the etiology of colic. Disruptions to the microbiome colonization of the gastrointestinal system may lead to excess gas and inflammation that are associated with the crying of colic. Infant Safe Sleep Initiative in a Small Volume Maternity Service
Purpose: Despite the 2016 American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for preventing sudden unexpected infant death, there are approximately 3,400 sudden unexpected infant deaths annually in the United States. Modeling of safe sleep practices by nurses in the hospital influences parents' practice at home; however, safe sleep practices are not consistently modeled during the childbirth hospitalization.
