Myocardial and Cerebral Infarction after Transarterial Bland Microsphere Embolization for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Case Report
More than 70% of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have advanced disease at the time of diagnosis and so are ineligible for curative surgery or liver transplantation. Transarterial embolization (TAE) is an accepted palliative treatment for patients with advanced HCC. However, there are potential adverse events after TAE with the use of smaller microspheres in this setting, including liver abscess, cholecystitis, biloma, and pulmonary emboli (1). Rarely, paradoxical embolization may also result in severe adverse events, including cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction (MI). (Source: Journal of Vascular and...

Percutaneous removal of migrated gastrointestinal stents using gastrostomy access
This report describes the experience of removing migrated gastrointestinal stents using a gastrostomy access. Four male patients ages years (23-62, mean 42) had 6 migrated stents removed using existing (n=3) or new (n=1) gastrostomy access. Removed stents included 5 covered esophageal stents that migrated into the stomach and 1 distal non-covered duodenal stent that migrated into the proximal duodenum. One patient had two stents removed during the same session. All stents were removed successfully without complications. (Source: Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology : JVIR)

A Claims-Based Method for Identification and Characterization of Practicing Interventional Radiologists
Interventional radiologists (IRs) are inconsistently defined in health services research and underrepresented by specialty designation in claims data. This work proposes a research method for identifying ‘Practicing IRs’ using two national claims datasets. (Source: Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology : JVIR)

Mortality, Safety and Efficacy of Paclitaxel-containing Balloons and Stents in the Femoropopliteal Artery: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials since 2018
Endovascular therapy is an established revascularization option for lower limb arterial stenosis with drug-eluting therapy demonstrating promising findings in inhibiting vessel restenosis and improving clinical outcomes post-intervention. However, a 2018 meta-analysis raised considerable concerns for an increased risk of death with paclitaxel-containing balloons and stents. The present study aims to provide an updated systematic review and meta-analysis of safety and efficacy outcomes with paclitaxel-containing devices.
