The effect of cellular nuclear function alteration on the pathogenesis of shoulder adhesive capsulitis: an immunohistochemical study on lamin A/C expression
ConclusionsOur study demonstrated that the activity of lamin A/C in maintaining nuclear structural integrity and cell viability is decreased in patients with adhesive capsulitis. The phase of the pathogenetic process (freezing and early frozen) is the key factor for cell functionality. Risk factors for early septic failure after two-stage exchange total knee arthroplasty for treatment of periprosthetic joint infection
ConclusionMale patients, fungus or mycobacterial infection, and positive culture at reimplantation were independently associated with an increased risk of early septic failure after two-stage exchange revision TKA despite normal C-reactive protein values prior to reimplantation. High satisfaction rate and range of motion can be expected in frozen shoulder after awake manipulation with brachial plexus block
ConclusionsIn this study, we proposed a standardized method of manipulation under brachial plexus block for patients affected by phase III adhesive capsulitis. The technique was applied among a large cohort of patients, who reported a high satisfaction rate and range-of-motion recovery after 4 months. This could represent an alternative treatment to surgery that has a shorter timeline and does not require patient hospitalization.Level of evidence: Level III, retrospective cohort study. Suprapatellar tibial fracture nailing is associated with lower rate for acute compartment syndrome and the need for fasciotomy compared with the infrapatellar approach
ConclusionsThe suprapatellar technique is recommended over the infrapatellar approach in the treatment of tibial shaft fractures. The rate of peri- and postoperative compartment syndrome and the need for fasciotomies was significantly lower with the suprapatellar technique. The major cause of increased rate of peri- or postoperative acute compartment syndrome with infrapatellar IMN technique is presumably associated with the positioning of the patient during the operation.Level of evidence3. Reverse shoulder arthroplasty in obstetric brachial plexus injury: our experience with shoulder motion analysis
ConclusionsRSA in OBPI patients demonstrated a significant improvement of pain symptoms and a moderate improvement in daily activities, anyway with a more appreciable quality of life over time even if the marked hypotrophy especially of the posterior shoulder muscles showed some limits in maintaining suspension of the upper limb and a minor external rotation, with an internal rotation attitude during the movements.Level of evidence: Level IV, Case series. Standard views do not suffice in assessing distal scaphoid articular cannulated screw penetration
ConclusionsStandard anteroposterior and lateral fluoroscopy views of a percutaneous cannulated screw fixation of a scaphoid waist fracture are insufficient to detect STT screw penetration. According to the current study, standard views would have missed half the amount of screw penetrations, which seems to reflect the high incidence of this problem in current practice. Clinical effects of different center of rotation reconstructions in total hip arthroplasty after femoral neck fractures: a cohort study including a follow-up analysis on patient ’s mobility and daily living ability
ConclusionsCOR superior displacement, COR medialization, and the combination of both (superomedialization, Spearmanp =  <  0.001) lead to reduced mobility while inferior displacement showed increased pain.
