Comments on “Concurrent validity and precision of the thumb disability examination (TDX) in first carpometacarpal osteoarthritis” by Johnson et al.
I read the article with great interest by Johnson et al. entitled “Concurrent validity and precision of the thumb disability examination (TDX) in first carpometacarpal osteoarthritis.”1 The authors of the study were purposed to reveal the concurrent validity, test-retest reliability, standard error of measurement (SEM) and minimal detectable change (MDC) of th e TDX. I congratulate the authors of the study; as they also stated in their article, there is no available tool for assessing osteoarthritis in the thumb carpometacarpal joint. Test-retest reliability of joint position sense in the elbow among healthy adults
Proprioception of the elbow is necessary for daily activities. Proprioception can be impaired with injury or pathology, and rehabilitation efforts seek to improve proprioception for improved upper extremity functioning. In clinical practice, joint position sense (JPS) testing is often utilized to assess conscious proprioception; however, varying methods exist with little evidence of psychometric properties, especially for the elbow. The  Patient Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) was successfully translated into Tamil
Pain and functional limitations post wrist and hand injuries are common. Patient Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) is a self-report measure with acceptable levels of clinical measurement properties developed by Dr  MacDermid1 to evaluate pain and functional limitations resulting from wrist and hand injuries. PRWE has been translated into various languages across the world in recent years. Tamil is one of the classical languages spoken across the world by over 76 million people and is an official language in different parts of the world like India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Singapore. Prevalence of positive modified scapular assistance test in patients with shoulder pain with and without scapular dyskinesis: a cross-sectional study
Scapular dyskinesis (SD) is defined as an altered position of the scapula or altered motion patterns and their relationship with shoulder pain (SP) is still under debate. The modified scapular assistance test (mSAT) modifies scapular kinematics and is used to determine the impact of scapular dyskinesis in shoulder pain. However, data about the relationship between SD and the result of mSAT is scarce. (Source: Journal of Hand Therapy)

How should we treat painful sensitivity in the hand? An international e-Delphi study
Evidence synthesis suggests allodynia resulting from neuropathic pain has few interventions with clear effectiveness. As research continues to build this needed evidence base, expert consensus recommendations can address the conflicting approaches within current hand therapy practice. Evaluating the feasibility of implementing the Sup-ER protocol for infants with brachial plexus birth injury
The Sup-ER protocol involves a repositioning program for infants with brachial plexus birth injury to position the shoulder in external rotation (ER) to address progressive loss in passive range of motion (PROM). The British Columbia Children ’s Hospital (BCCH) eligibility criteria for this protocol are infants aged 4-8 weeks with decreased shoulder ER PROM and/or Active Movement Scale (AMS) shoulder ER and/or supination scores ≤2. The resources needed to implement this protocol in large clinics have not been studied. (Source: Journal of Hand Therapy)

The effects of auditory cues and weighted pens on handwriting in individuals with Parkinson ’s disease
Micrographia, or small handwriting, is a common symptom of Parkinson ’s disease (PD). Weighted pens have previously been recommended to improve handwriting, but there is limited research supporting their effectiveness. Additionally, previous research has demonstrated that music as an auditory cue can reduce variability in fine motor movements, but its effect on han dwriting in people with PD remains unknown. Weight-bearing test of traumatic triangular fibrocartilage complex lesion with unstable radioulnar joint
Ulnar-sided wrist pain might be caused by a lesion of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC). Patients with TFCC lesion may show an instability of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ). Before arthroscopic assessment, conservative therapy using a brace or splint may result in alleviation of symptoms. The results of our previous study showed that patients with a traumatic TFCC lesion and instability of the DRUJ had the smallest weight-bearing capacity and had the largest increase in application of the wrist brace (WristWidget).
