Two HEmostasis Methods After TransradIal Catheterization: THEMATIC Randomized Clinical Trial
Conclusions
The incidence of RAO was similar in patients who received hemostasis with a TR Band versus a pressure dressing after transradial cardiac catheterization. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Clusters of Cardiovascular Risk Factors and Their Impact on the 20-Year Cardiovascular Risk in a General Population
Conclusion
Differences in survival-free probability of CVD in relation to the number of CVRFs present were statistically significant. Further studies are needed to corroborate our results. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Cardiovascular Risk Reduction in Rural Women: A Literature Synthesis
Conclusions
Depth in a body of knowledge on any 1 topic, such as the most efficacious means to decrease CVD risk factors in rural women and increase health promotion activities in the population, is lacking. Another area of concern is the lack of research articles published in cardiovascular journals that include CVD in rural women. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

A Systematic Review on the Effects of Nonpharmacological Sleep Interventions on Cardiometabolic Risk or Disease Outcomes
Conclusion
The mediating effects of sleep improvement on cardiometabolic risk/disease control were inconclusive. More research to examine the effect of sleep-related risk-factor modification on cardiovascular health is warranted. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Development of the Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Body Image Concerns Questionnaire
Conclusion
Using patient and healthcare professionals' involvement, we developed the 39-item ICD-BICQ to measure the prevalence of BICs in ICD recipients. The factor structure, construct validity, psychometric properties, and a clinically relevant cutoff for the ICD-BICQ will be evaluated in a quantitative study of ICD recipients. Effects of a Comprehensive Reminder System Based on the Health Belief Model for Patients Who Have Had a Stroke on Health Behaviors, Blood Pressure, Disability, and Recurrence From Baseline to 6 Months: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusion
The comprehensive reminder system improved patients' health behaviors and medication adherence and reduced blood pressure and disability; the effect extended to 6 months after discharge. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Depression and Anxiety Moderate the Relationship Between Body Image and Personal Well-being Among Patients With an Implanted Left Ventricular Assist Device
Conclusions
Body image significantly predicted personal well-being among patients with an implanted LVAD. Depression alone, or depression combined with anxiety, moderated the relationships between body image and personal well-being. The current results may help to heighten healthcare providers' awareness of body image perception among patients with an implanted LVAD. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Psychosocial Factors Related to Adverse Outcomes in Heart Failure Caregivers: A Structural Equation Modeling Analysis
Conclusions
Social support mediates the effects of caregiver burden on depression but has little effect on self-care or life changes. In the presence of social support, problem solving does not mediate the effects of caregiver demands and burden on caregiver outcomes. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Insight Into Differences in Dietary Sodium Adherence Between Men and Women With Heart Failure
Conclusion
The results suggest that the men with higher sodium intake than women had 2 reasons for nonadherence. They consumed more food and foods with higher sodium density than women did. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Reliability and Validity of the State-Trait Hopelessness Scale in Patients With Heart Disease and Moderate to Severe Hopelessness
Objective
The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the State-Trait Hopelessness Scale (STHS) in patients with heart disease who report moderate to severe state hopelessness.
Methods
Reliability, concurrent validity, and convergent validity were evaluated for 20 patients.
Results
Cronbach's α for the State and Trait subscales were .81 and .79, respectively. Strong correlations between the State Hopelessness Subscale and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (r = 0.77, P (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

Prediction of Heart Failure Symptoms and Health-Related Quality of Life at 12 Months From Baseline Modifiable Factors in Patients With Heart Failure
Background
In patients with heart failure (HF), good health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is as valuable as, or more valuable than, longer survival. However, HRQOL is remarkably poor, and HF symptoms are strongly associated with poor HRQOL. Yet, the multidimensional, modifiable predictors have been rarely examined.
Objective
The aim of this study was to examine the baseline psychosocial, behavioral, and physical predictors of HF symptoms and HRQOL at 12 months and the mediator effect of HF symptoms in the relationship between depressive symptoms and HRQOL.
Methods
We collected data from 94 patients with HF (mean ...

Motivational Interviewing and Self-care Practices in Adult Patients With Heart Failure: A Systematic Review and Narrative Synthesis
Conclusion
Motivational interviewing is a potentially effective adjunct to enhance self-care practices in patients with heart failure. Further high-quality research is needed to support changes in clinical practice. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)

A Comparison of Diet Quality of Patients With Heart Failure and Their Family Caregivers
Conclusion
Both patients and caregivers consume poor-quality diets that are high in sodium. These findings suggest that nutrition interventions to improve diet quality for patients with HF need to be targeted at the family as a unit. (Source: Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing)
