Fruit and Vegetable Consumption and High-Density Lipoproteins in Overweight or Obese Individuals: A Meta-analysis
Background Overweight and obesity are associated with low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). The occurrence of cardiovascular disease is strongly predicted by HDL. Increased HDL reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Increased fruit and vegetable consumption (FVC) has been proposed to increase HDL in overweight and obesity; however, research outcomes are inconclusive on the effects of FVC on HDL in this population. Multimorbidity in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome Is Associated With Greater Mortality, Higher Readmission Rates, and Increased Length of Stay: A Systematic Review
Conclusions Multimorbid patients with ACS are at a greater risk for worse outcomes than their nonmultimorbid counterparts. Lack of consistent measurement makes interpretation of the impact of multimorbidity challenging and emphasizes the need for more research on multimorbidity's effects on postdischarge healthcare utilization.
