Dosimetric evaluation in Helical TomoTherapy for lung SBRT using Monte Carlo-based independent dose verification software
CONCLUSION: The TPS of HT might overestimate the PTV dose by more than 5% if any the three indices in this study were below threshold. Therefore, independent verification with an MC-based algorithm should be strongly recommended for lung SBRT in HT.PMID:38368607 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14305 (Source: Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics)

A script-enabled interactive checklist document for efficient management of electronic devices in a busy multimodality radiotherapy clinic
CONCLUSION: A script-enabled interactive document was developed for a busy multimodality clinic, condensing multiple comprehensive departmental guidelines spanning multiple device types and treatment modalities into a single interactive checklist accessible within the ROIS. Given the wide accessibility of the commercial word processor, this approach could be adopted by other clinics to streamline their own respective workflows.PMID:38368613 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14302 (Source: Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics)

A retrospective study on the investigation of potential dosimetric benefits of online adaptive proton therapy for head and neck cancer
CONCLUSION: The results of our retrospective study have demonstrated that online APT can better address anatomical changes for HN cancer patients than the current offline replanning practice. The advanced artificial intelligence based automatic replanning technology presents a promising avenue for extending potential benefits of online APT.PMID:38368614 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14308 (Source: Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics)

Technical note: SpekPy Web-online x-ray spectrum calculations using an interface to the SpekPy toolkit
J Appl Clin Med Phys. 2024 Feb 16:e14301. doi: 10.1002/acm2.14301. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTKnowledge of the photon spectrum emitted from an x-ray tube is frequently needed in imaging and dosimetry contexts. As the spectrum characteristics are influenced by several parameters and routine measurement of a spectrum is often impractical, a variety of software programs have been developed over the decades for convenient calculations. SpekPy is a state-of-the-art software package containing several spectrum models, and was created to estimate photon spectra originating from x-ray tubes using a small set of input parameters...

Influence of dose calculation algorithms on the helical diode array using volumetric-modulated arc therapy for small targets
CONCLUSION: The behavior of the dose distribution on the helical diode array differed depending on the dose calculation algorithm for small targets. Measurements using ArcCHECK for VMAT with small targets can have lower GPRs owing to the coarse dose resolution of AXB around the detector area.PMID:38363044 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14307 (Source: Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics)
