Associations of types of primary care facilities with adult vaccination and cancer screening in Japan
ConclusionsDifferences in the performance of adult vaccination and cancer screening raised concerns about the provision of preventive care at hospital-based compared with clinic-based primary care practices. Efforts to improve preventive care at hospital-based primary care practices should help to promote equalization of the quality of primary care. Further study is needed on the comparisons of other quality indicators among different structures of primary care facilities. (Source: International Journal for Quality in Health Care)

Human factors and ergonomics at time of crises: the Italian experience coping with COVID-19
AbstractSeveral of the key organizational issues that we have had to face with the emergence of COVID-19 crisis are related to human factors/ergonomics (HFE) and the safety culture. During the crisis the main activities of the healthcare services have been profoundly affected. Patient safety and risk management units have also experienced the need to adapt rapidly. What can we do as HFE experts, now that the scenario has completely changed? We contend that: (a) we can favour and support the heuristics that are applied to manage the load of psycho-cognitive stress. (b) We can observe, collect strategies and develop analytic...

Quality assessment of weekend discharge: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion In the USA, the 30-day readmission rate was higher in patients who had been discharged on the weekend compared with the weekday. However, interpretation should be cautious because of data limitation and high heterogeneity. Further intervention should be conducted to eliminate any healthcare inequality within the healthcare system and to improve the quality of patient care. Act now! Covid-19 pandemic: the coordinated support of the international community to low- and middle-income countries is needed immediately
Since the first alert of Covid-19 on 31st of December 2019, around 4 million cases have been confirmed worldwide and over 260  000 people died according to the World Health Organization (WHO) [1]. Countries all over the world closed their borders, services were shut down and restrictions are imposed with the aim of ‘flattening the curve’ to relieve the pressure on the health system.
