Transcribing and Transforming: Towards Inclusive, Multilingual Child Speech Training for South African Speech-Language Therapy Students
Conclusion: Calls to transform higher education in South Africa and “decolonise” curricula are key drivers underpinning this work. Transcription may be a useful tool in preparing students to practise in a multilingual context.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

Motivational Stage Analysis of Patients with Behavioral Dysphonia
Conclusions: The motivational stage of the participants improved after voice therapy. Being motivated is important for adherence to behavioral changes regarding the voice, and this study shows that using the URICA-VOICE scale in clinical practice is essential to measure patient performance in the voice therapy process, as well as to determine the ideal moment of discharge.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

Normative Features of Phoneme Acquisition in Brazilian Portuguese
Conclusion: Age had a greater impact on phoneme production. The normative data on phonological acquisition highlighted the differences between the ages of mastery for different phonemes, with elements such as the /r/ sound and complex onsets being acquired much later in development than some of the other phonemes analyzed.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

Error Patterns of Dorsal Rhotics: Evidence from Hebrew-Speaking Children
Conclusions: The result demonstrating a higher rate of errors in initial word positions may be due to the relatively late acquisition of the initial onset position in multisyllabic Hebrew words. Alternatively, this finding may result from the greater degree of allophonic variation found in this position. The finding that languages with dorsal rhotics have unique error patterns compared to other rhotics strengthens the evidence that rhotic error patterns are dependent on the rhotics ’ phonetic characteristics.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

Clinical and Acoustical Voice Quality Evolutions Throughout Empirical Treatment for Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease According to Gender: A Preliminary Study
Conclusion: This preliminary study suggests the occurrence of gender-related differences in the LPR therapeutic response. Further studies need to clarify whether females require a longer course of therapy than males.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

Detection of Gap and Modulations: Auditory Temporal Resolution Deficits in Adults Who Stutter
Conclusions: Results suggest that the sensory representations of the temporal modulations are compromised in AWS, which may contribute to the programming of rhythmic movements during speech planning.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

Production of Vowels by Electrolaryngeal Speakers Using Clear Speech
Conclusion: Finding suggests that, although clear speech facilitates longer vowel durations, electrolaryngeal speakers may not gain a clear speech benefit relative to listeners ’ vowel identifications.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

How Well Does Diadochokinetic Task Performance Predict Articulatory Imprecision? Differentiating Individuals with Parkinson ’s Disease from Control Subjects
Conclusions: DDK sequences can predict articulatory imprecision as observed in another speech task. The linking of performance across speech tasks probably requires measures of stability in syllable durations and amplitudes, as well as measures of subsyllabic acoustic features.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)

The Impact of Dysarthria on Laypersons ’ Attitudes towards Adults with Cerebral Palsy
Conclusion: Severity of dysarthria seems to have a major impact on laypersons ’ attitudes. Results suggest that speech symptoms may have a very specific influence on laypersons’ evaluations. This may be important for clinical care, since symptoms with the most negative impact should be focused on in treatment.Folia Phoniatr Logop (Source: Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica)
