The Importance of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Intervention and Treatment of HIV while Considering its Safety and Efficacy
Curr HIV Res. 2023 Dec 1. doi: 10.2174/011570162X271199231128092621. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNatural products have been considered a potential resource for the development of novel therapeutic agents, since time immemorial. It is an opportunity to discover cost-effective and safe drugs at the earliest, with the goal to hit specific targets in the HIV life cycle. Natural products with inhibitory activity against human immunodeficiency virus are terpenes, coumarins, flavonoids, curcumin, proteins, such as lectins, laccases, bromotyrosines, and ribosome-inactivating proteins. Terpenes inhibit virus fusion, lectins and f...

Factors Associated with Fatal COVID-19 Outcomes among People Living with HIV: A Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: These data show that people with advanced HIV-1 infection have an increased risk of fatal COVID-19 outcomes and that there is a need to improve this population's access to health services and, hence, increase their survival rates.PMID:38037993 | DOI:10.2174/011570162X277788231128111517 (Source: Current HIV Research)

Design, Synthesis, Docking Studies, and Biological Evaluation of Novel 2- Hydroxyacetophenone Derivatives as Anti-HIV-1 Agents
CONCLUSION: Our findings proved that the synthesized analogs may suggest a very good basis for the development of new anti-HIV-1 agents.PMID:37990893 | DOI:10.2174/011570162X261377231107110447 (Source: Current HIV Research)

Comparison of Metabolic Effects of Three Different Treatment Combinations with Retrospective Real-life Data in People Living with HIV
CONCLUSION: All treatment groups showed a decrease in HIV-RNA and an increase in CD4 at the end of one year. While CD4 elevation is lower in EFV recipients than in integrase inhibitor (INSTI) recipients, weight gain is higher in INSTI recipients. While the lipid profile was more positively affected in the 3TC/DTG group, lipid profiles were more negatively affected in the EVG/c/TAF/FTC group, although liver and kidney functions were preserved.PMID:37990894 | DOI:10.2174/011570162X266922231107094649 (Source: Current HIV Research)
