Late Diagnosis at Entry on Care in an HIV Clinic in Mexico City: Possibly COVID-19 Pandemic Impact
CONCLUSION: Despite the progressive decrease in late diagnosis prevalence in our population, it remains high. Even more, our results documented a possible increase in the prevalence of late diagnosis associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings highlight the need to prioritize interventions to evaluate and reverse pandemic effects on people living with HIV care.PMID:37461347 | DOI:10.2174/1570162X21666230717150555 (Source: Current HIV Research)

Detection of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease with non-invasive tools in Turkish people living with HIV and with apparently normal liver function
CONCLUSION: We demonstrated that even a significant proportion of PLWH individuals with normal transaminase levels have fatty liver. Future prospective trials are warranted to understand and mitigate the risk factors, course of NAFLD, and accurate non-invasive tests, predicting fibrosis in people living with HIV.PMID:37455457 | DOI:10.2174/1570162X21666230714122716 (Source: Current HIV Research)

HIV Preintegration Transcription and Host Antagonism
Curr HIV Res. 2023 Jun 21. doi: 10.2174/1570162X21666230621122637. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRetrovirus integration is an obligatory step for the viral life cycle, but large amounts of unintegrated DNA (uDNA) accumulate during retroviral infection. For simple retroviruses, in the absence of integration, viral genomes are epigenetically silenced in host cells. For complex retroviruses such as HIV, preintegration transcription has been found to occur at low levels from a large population of uDNA even in the presence of host epigenetic silencing mechanisms. HIV preintegration transcription has been suggested to be a norma...
