Crystal Engineering of Sterically Shielded Hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronenes
David Reger, Frank Hampel, Norbert Jux Solid-state properties of organic materials are crucial for applications, but the aggregation is often difficult to predict and to adjust. In this work we investigated the packing of sterically shielded hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene derivatives and present the manipulation of their aggregation with various functional groups. These findings will improve the understanding of packing behaviour in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nanographenes. (Source: Australian Journal of Chemistry)

Evaluation of a Continuous-Flow Photo-Bromination Using N-Bromosuccinimide for Use in Chemical Manufacture
Matthew Waterford, Simon Saubern, Christian H. Hornung Simple photo-bromination chemistry can be scaled up in a flow reactor using modern LED-based equipment, and crucially combined with in-line workup and purification. This integrated multi-stage operation provides a novel solution for the chemical manufacturing industry to use photochemistry and continuous flow reactors on an industrial scale. Evaluation of Calcium Binding Capacity of Chelating Agents in Calcium Carbonate Suspension and Effects on Calcium Distribution of Calcium Chelating Agents
Mingyue Song, Leping Dang, Hongyuan Wei The application of fluoride as an important active ingredient in calcium carbonate toothpaste is limited due to production of calcium fluoride precipitates. Adding chelators to the formula is a new method to increase the concentration of fluorine. The calcium binding capacity has led to an important role for chelators to reduce the activity of calcium. Long-Chained Pyridinium N-Chloramines: Synthesis and Remarkable Biocidal Efficacies for Antibacterial Application
Lingdong Li, Dongxue Jia, Guangqing Zhang, Hanxue Ma Long-chained pyridinium N-chloramines were synthesised by covalent linking N-Cl unit and alkyl chain via alkylation of 3-hydroxypyridine. Compared with previous pyridinium N-chloramine that lacks intact alkyl chains, the current long-chained N-chloramines exerted distinctively elevated biocidal efficacy, probably resulting from ‘synergistic’ biocidal action between N-Cl moiety and the long-chained pyridinium moiety. Conformers, Properties of the Anticancer Drug Plocabulin, and its Binding Mechanism with p-Glycoprotein: DFT and MD Studies
Xudong Lü, Yufei Ma, Yulian Tao, Fei Yan, Ce Song, Cuihong Wang, Meiling Zhang The physical and chemical properties of anticancer drug plocabulin (PM060184) were studied by density functional theory (DFT). The anti-drug resistance mechanism of plocabulin was explored through its interaction with p-glycoprotein, the relative binding energy was calculated by MM/PBSA, and key amino acid residues were analysed. The Synthesis of a Two-Photon Fluorescence Labelling Probe and its Immunochromatographic Strip for Rapid Diagnosis of COVID-19
Chibao Huang, Shuai Kang, Fuxun Yu, Zairong Wei A two-photon fluorescence labelling probe synthesised here can be used to image COVID-19 in tissues, and its immunochromatographic strip (TPICS) can rapidly diagnose COVID-19. TPICS is much simpler than the nucleic acid detection method to shorten the detection period, and much more stable than the colloidal gold method to overcome uncertainty. Understanding the Polymer Rearrangement of pH-Responsive Nanoparticles
Nayeleh Deirram, Sarah S. Kermaniyan, Angus P. R. Johnston, Georgina K. Such To develop a greater understanding of the dynamic nature of polymeric systems, pH-responsive nanoparticles were labelled with fluorescent dyes and then mixed with unlabelled nanoparticles. It was shown that the fluorescence intensity of the labelled nanoparticles remained constant at physiological pH (pH 7.4), suggesting limited migration of polymers between different nanoparticles.
