The relevance of arterial blood pressure in the management of glaucoma progression: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that systemic blood pressure level associates with glaucomatous damage and provided recommendations for the management and study of arterial blood pressure in glaucoma. Prospective clinical trials are needed to further support these recommendations.PMID:37995334 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad111 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)

Age and comorbidities are associated with therapeutic inertia among older adults with uncontrolled blood pressure
CONCLUSIONS: TI was common among older adults but not associated with comorbidities after age ≥ 75 years. A hypertension improvement program had limited impact on TI in older patients.PMID:37991224 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad108 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)

Lower socioeconomic status, psychological distress, and self-reported hypertension: A longitudinal moderated mediation analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The association of SES and self-reported hypertension was mediated by psychological distress and sex moderated the mediation effect. Interventions focused on reducing contributors to SES and psychological stress should be considered to reduce hypertension risk.PMID:37991284 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad113 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)

Correlates of Spontaneous Blood Pressure Reduction Following Severe Inpatient Hypertension Development
CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that almost half the patients who develop sHTN have spontaneous BP reduction. Conventional clinical and demographic characteristics were not strong predictors of spontaneous BP reduction following sHTN development. More research is needed to confirm our findings and help guide treatment of sHTN.PMID:37988620 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad112 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)

Peripheral blood microRNA-21 as a predictive biomarker for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in old hypertensives
CONCLUSIONS: miR-21 levels in peripheral blood monocytes are associated with the development of future HFpEF. Our findings may alter the risk models of HFpEF and support the rationale for further research into the modulation of miRs as biomarkers and treatment targets for HFpEF.PMID:37976292 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad109 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)
