Connect To Care (C2C): protocol for two-site randomized controlled pilot trial to improve outcomes for patients with hazardous drinking and PTSD and/or depression symptoms
DISCUSSION: Study findings are likely to have implications for clinical practice to enhance current approaches to linking patients with HD + to alcohol care by applying a practical intervention such as C2C. The results may improve treatment outcomes for people with HD + by drawing on patients' strengths to problem-solve barriers to care following a process of shared decision-making with a coach. In addition to possibly accelerating the translation of C2C into practice, study findings will also support additional research in terms of a planned effectiveness-implementation hybrid trial, adding to this study's potential for h...

The impact of methamphetamine use on medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) treatment retention: a scoping review
CONCLUSIONS: Results indicate that methamphetamine use has an undesirable impact on MOUD retention and results in an increased risk of treatment discontinuation or dropout. Strategies to identify concurrent methamphetamine use among individuals engaging in MOUD and educate them on the increased risk for dropout should be undertaken. Further research is needed to understand how MOUD retention among patients with concomitant opioid and methamphetamine use can be improved.PMID:37587456 | DOI:10.1186/s13722-023-00402-0 (Source: Addiction Science and Clinical Practice)

A qualitative study of interest in and preferences for potential medications to treat methamphetamine use disorder
CONCLUSION: Participants were excited about a potential for a medication to treat MUD. Their preferences were informed by the functional role of methamphetamine in their lives and a desire to maintain the stimulant effects while mitigating harms of illicit methamphetamine. Treatment outcomes that emphasize functioning and wellbeing, rather than abstinence, should be explored.PMID:37587515 | DOI:10.1186/s13722-023-00401-1 (Source: Addiction Science and Clinical Practice)

The associations between public stigma and support for others' help-seeking for alcohol use disorder: a cross sectional study in the general Danish population
CONCLUSION: There is a clear association between stigma and attitudes towards supporting others' help-seeking for AUD. The results highlight the need to reduce stigma and promote engagement towards others' treatment-seeking.PMID:37542352 | PMC:PMC10403820 | DOI:10.1186/s13722-023-00400-2 (Source: Addiction Science and Clinical Practice)
