H1b, immigration and salary for foreign-trained dentists after DDS/DMD?
I have worked for more than 5 yrs as a general dentist in India and worked extensively in prosthodontics, endodontics, and radiographic reporting of CBCT scans. I have a Masters's in Health Services Administration (MHSA) from the University of Michigan (2018). Since I didn't get a job during my OPT period, I had to return to India where I continued dentistry at my dad's oral surgical practice since COVID hit. My husband has been working in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and has just gotten his... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Returning to Residency after 26 years?
Hi, one of my family friends did 17 months of Residency but was dismissed from the program due to variety of reasons. They were able to get a license and worked as a General Practitioner in many Urgent Cares afterwards for 26 years. They are FMG from India. The issue is they are reaching age where they want to have a stable job with benefits but the fact that they are not board eligible comes up. Is there any chance of them going into an advanced position at this stage and finishing... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Diversity Essay Help
Hey guys. I'm working on my diversity essay and wanted to bounce a couple of ideas off. 1: I have a lot of coding experience from my lab research and have helped create an online platform for medical interpretation. I want to connect this to my interest in computational medicine. (I think this is the weakest one considering that my comp sci experience is not reflected in my coursework). 2: I was born in America but moved to India and lived there for 5 years. After 6th grade, I moved back... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pathology vs RadOnc
Would you advise a medical student to go into path or radonc? An interesting discussion, considering radonc's history and its current implosion. Here's a funny conversation I saw on their form: RealSimulD said: Going to an Indian wedding. They used to seat me next to ENT Patel and Moh’s Reddy. Now, I’m with Podiatry Patel and Endocrine Reddy. Different vibe for sure. Click to expand... medgator said: Nuc med Shah and path Gupta are in the cards for your next table Click to expand... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Practicing Internationally
Does the Indian government allow DOs to practice there? Asking because I really want to split my career between the U.S. and India. Also just wanna work in global health in general, but don’t want any doors closed because of licensing issues. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Apply to Loma Linda?
I’ve been getting split opinions on this. On one hand, my sis is an OBGYN and thinks I won’t learn much about women’s health there. On the other hand, my mom went to a Catholic boarding school when growing up in India and loved the discipline the church provided. She thinks it would do me good. It’s the same reason she wants me to apply to USUHS. To be clear, I’m not religious. My grandfather is an atheist and only sent my mom to Catholic school because it offered good quality education... Moving to Canada as an IMG after Residency+Fellowship
I've posted this before but I'm not sure it was in the right thread 1. I'm an IMG from india, if I want to train in the USA in a speciality like haem/onc, and move out to the Canada after that will i be able to do so? What will be the steps? How hard would it be to find jobs? Will my age (I'll be 32 by then i guess) be a huge obstacle? How will I get a PR? I am very early in my journey so I am just curious about the options right now 2. And also I want to pursue academic medicine, so would... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
