UNH Uses Dishes To Promote Healthy Eating
DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — They may not be binging on broccoli, but some University of New Hampshire students are at least pausing before they fill up on fried food, thanks to dishware designed to remind them about healthy options. Two years after the federal government abandoned the food pyramid as a symbol for healthful eating and adopted an image of a plate instead, the university has gone a step further by printing dietary guidelines directly on plates used in campus dining halls. The so-called Wildcat Plates, named after the school’s mascot, offer a bit more detail than the “My Plate” graphic promoted by ...

When seed is non-renewable, bred for chemicals, or genetically engineered with toxic Bt or Roundup Ready genes, diversity disappears. In recent years, beekeepers have been losing 25% of their hives each winter. A Week King’ori
Greetings from King’Ori village! All of us in King’Ori (Teaching Partners: Maryam & Caroline and Volunteers: Charlotte BP, Vanessa, Olivia & Iszy) send a lot of love home and hope that everyone enjoys hearing about our week. On Saturday we had our first experience teaching at a bar. Iszy and Olivia broke the ice by challenging one of the young men to a game of pool. They promptly lost, but not before both of them had sunk a few balls. Before teaching, Vanessa and Caroline walked around the village recruiting youngsters to listen to what we had to say.
